WOYWW 204

Image
Once again it is time to head on over to   Julia's blog   get the deets and to link up for the Great Wednesday Desk SNOOP! This week poor Betsy has been left pretty much alone.  I have been trying to catch up on yard work, BUT this afternoon, when the sun was finally too hot to work in, I came indoors and worked in my art journal and that is what is on Betsy now.  I'll do a tutorial on that page at a later date.  Other than that the usual, wipes, RRD stamps, lights, pens, pencils, paint brushes Stamp pad, modeling paste, water bucket and a few extra tools; my glasses being the important tool visible.  Short and sweet this week, it's really late Tuesday night here and I am pooped, so it is off to dream land for me so I can get an early start on the snooping over coffee in the morning.  Oh ya, I forgot to take down the WOYWW letters, but it rolled around again!! LOL just might leave them there for the color factor. Inky Hugs Krisha who is yawning, and blinking her eyes

2 New Journal Pages

Image
This morning I have 2 new journal pages to share, both were done while I was in San Diego but just getting around to sharing them.  This first one was started for a challenge, which I didn't get finished in time (new grandson was a great interruption) The challenge was to use stamped images on a journal page, and this was my results. Lots of ink, paint, stencils, decorative paper, chip board letters and of course stamps!! This second page is more of a "test" page of color and techniques.  I had used gesso and did a little texture with it, then painted it black...........ya, out of my comfort zone! I had tried and alcohol technique and powdered pearls then  I had added a boarder of silver squares then let it sit......and sit ..........and sit.  I had bought a package of stencils and broke them open and dug out my modeling paste and went to town.  After it dried I laid the stencil back over the areas and colored with markers.  I kept telling myself I was going to put s

New Stamp Release from Rogue Redhead Designs

Image
Wahooo! A new release from Rogue Redhead Designs! This N That the greatest 1/2 plate of stamps yet! I had to DWELL on the Possibilities of which one (s) to start with. This sentiment gave me a "self challenge" and I decided to make ATCs with multiple "possibilities". I only used two of the stamps in this set and ran with the "possibilities"! Top ATC: Checkered stamp with yellow ink and the sentiment stamped in black, multiple times, mounted on black then onto a yellow ATC. Middle ATC: I colored the checkered stamp with brush markers, spritzed with water and stamped the image, then sentiment again in black ink and mounted onto a dark blue ATC. Bottom ATC: Using the checkered stamp on four different colored cs, and black ink to make the ATC. I then trimmed rows out and mounted them on a black ATC. The sentiment on white and lined the edges with matching ink. Embellishments are scraps of the background cs. Check out this great plate of stamp

Here we go, it's Wednesday again and time for WOYWW!  Check out all the details to play along here: http://stamping-ground.blogspot.com/2013/04/whats-on-your-workdesk-wednesday-203.html THE GREAT day of desk SNOOPING around the world. So here is Betsy this morning, not a lot going on, all around the edges are the standard things. Across the middle are a baggie of baby wipes, peeks of a finished DT project, an other DT project colored with the bright gel pens that are on top, couple ATC face down (a finished DT project, come back Friday to have a look) Small paper trimmer, CD cases with the NEW stamp set This N That  released today from Rogue Redhead Designs (which you can check out RIGHT NOW by popping over here: http://rogueredheaddesigns.blogspot.com/2013/04/announcing-new-this-n-that-plate.html  ) There are a couple pair of scissors and a magnetic strip I haven't gotten up yet, cause I'm not sure where I want it.  Oh ya, the colorful WOYWW letters are just stick

Who????

Image
Yes who do you think would draw such a large owl? Why ME of course!! Isn't he just a plump fellow? Owls are quite in now and I do have a few stamps but I have been wanting to play around with drawing my own, and here he is, or she is, or it is!!  I did a little doodling on him then colored him in with colored pencils, background was determined by Gelatos. Kinda funky, kinda fun and a really lopsided picture!! Inky Hugs Krisha

I've Gone Gothic- 3 Times!!

Image
Gothic is really not one of the styles I use, but over at http://www.sillydillybeans.blogspot.com/  they have some of the cutest digital images AND over at   cheerful stamp pad.blogspot.com  the current challenge is Gothic  Cuties!!  What a great combination!  So here are three DT projects for this challenge:   My first choice  is Paige, LOVE this image!!  I colored her with colored pencils and fussy cut her out.  Then mounted her on black glitter paper.  I took a black in pad and died the lace black and added it to the bottom of the glitter paper, then a double row of rhinestones to finish it off.  The sentiment is s new one from 7 Gypsies, I knew this would be the one I used before I started the card, and I usually work the other way around.    Second project was using Pinky's Skull Bow to create a large tag, it is 6 1/2" long and colored with water paint, then lined with a black Sharpie pen.  Each little Pinky is a different color and then mounted onto a co

More Art Journal Pages

What a warm wonderful Sunday this has been, the sun is down now but it is still so nice outside.  Time to throw open the windows at night!!   There is so much yard work to catch up on and the long days make it nice.  This first journal page was a "fun with paint" type of page.  I used a brick stencil for the wall, and the most all the paint was applied with pom poms!!  I had an evergreen tree stamp I did put paint on then added it to the tree line.  Kinda fun to just start dabbing colors of paint here, there and everywhere.  I did go back in and make some dot flowers with my stylist.  The sentiment is from Graphic 45 "Secret Garden" and the pail of flowers is a picture from a magazine that I thought was so pretty.    This second page has been a work in progress for months.  I drew layered ovals on the page, and then a swirly up the side.  It stayed that way for about a week, just wasn't sure where to go from there, then I had the bright idea to paint purpl

Journal page in soft colors

Image
Happy Sunday!! While in San Diego I had bought a couple of magazines to brows through and came across this picture in an ad.  I don't remember what the ad was for, but I fell in love with the image of the white horse and woman in white.  I had decided that I really didn't want black ink on this page so it became a challenge.  Let's face it black ink shows well on almost any color.  I had used TH Distressed ink pads, faded jeans and fired brick, for the background, watering them down to make a softer effect.  Using the faded jeans ink I stamped the Rogue Readheads background script stamp and the the Inkadinkado flourishes.  The blue toned flowers are Modeling paste using a stencil, then rubbing the ink over the centers and leaves.  The pink flowers were just ink and stencil. The sentiment is from 7 Gypsyies, as soon as I saw it I knew I would buy it for this page.  It too is stamped using the faded jeans ink. This was a soothing page to work on, even though there were

There is a Dark Side

Image
Yes, this is a page from my art journal!  While in San Diego I was on You Tube and watched a mixed media journal page using masking tape.  This is proof that I CAN NOT always duplicate what I process on the Intranet! LOL   She used wide masking tape, and all I had was the standard with, but decided to give it a try (not my best decision) There was also hot glue used in the video, but once I got this far I figured "Why waste the hot glue?" I had finally broke down and bought 3 sets of Gelatos (This was a very GOOD decision) and had colored the tape and the background. Then it sat for a couple days as it was sooo ugly I wasn't sure where to take it from here.  Every time I looked at it I want to scream, like in the horror movies, and I couldn't rip it out, it backs something else. Then I dreamed I came home and all my flowers had died cause DH had not watered them, and THAT is how the sentiment "Night Screams" came about.  Little did I know it would not be m

Just When You Think You Have Seen it ALL

Hey blogger friends, a quick post, while taking a break from cleaning the Playhouse. I want to say Hello to Michelle, an new follower, glad you came aboard.   Now who could pass up this little stamp??  I almost choked laughing in the stamp store when I saw it.  There were more of this nature, but THIS one I HAD to have!  It is from American Arts Stamp, and just the right size for an ATC!  This one can be hung or it has a magnet on the back as well.  It was a gift to the gals that take care of the RV park I stayed in, they were great, and for the whole month they did not rent the space next to me, so there was plenty of outdoor space for me. I stamped the image then tore the edges and highlighted them with markers.  I just took a light pink marker and highlighted the sentiment.  Then it was mounted onto a hand made paper, sorry it is so dark.  The flowers were some buttons I came across somewhere.  Since I was so limited on stash ( yeah, right......did you see what still

WOYWW 202- We're Home Again

Image
Happy WOYWW!!! It feels so good to be "home", there really is no place like it (in many ways).  I'm so excited to be participatinging WOYWW: What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday!  Haven't be able to participate in 3 weeks EEEEKK! With drawls are really rough!  Hope over to: http://stamping-ground.blogspot.com/2013/04/whats-on-your-workdesk-wednesday-202.html to find out what this is all about, the GREAT WEEKLY DESK SNOOP! So here is Betsy, we are unloaded but not unpacked so "stuff" is just piled on the desk top.  Some new stamps, stickers and chipboard letters (I got there chip board letters at the $$ store!!) and then there is all the usual stuff, box of working tools, new smuggers, new pencil sharpener and on the left is a Mega Mount (also new) for the large stamp right in the middle. Second picture is a shot of my case, of more stuff waiting to be put back where they belong.  This would not be a "BAD" thing, except there is someth

Quiet Post

Just taking a moment to say that my prayers are for the city of Boston and the Marathon.  For the innocent people who lives ended yesterday, their families and friends, For those injured, their families and friends and for those that witnessed such a horrific ordeal that will live in their memories for the rest of their lives. My heart aches with sadness for all of them.

My first Rouge Redhead Designs DT piece

Image
I created this birthday card with the Rouge Redhead Designs Nature Notes.  This plate of stamps is quickly becoming one of my favorites, as it is so versatile. First I used the wood grain stamp and brown ink on a copper/brown CS The  main image was then stamped in black over the wood grain..  I then repeated the image on a light tan cs, colored her with markers and trimmed her out and mounted her over the first image print.  I trimmed the square just slightly larger than the frame of the stamp.  I  inked up the flower with markers  and impressed the image on tan cs and added the trimmed face.  The Happy Birthday stamped is with green ink and a Tiger's eye embellishment went perfect. Then everything was layered onto a green cs and then onto a weathered brown designer paper, with all the corners rounded. You can find this plate of stamps here: http://www.rogueredheaddesigns.com/RRD011.html   and it is available in 3 different options, how great is that?? Thanks for stopping by

Work is Good week #2

Image
Week two, already, for the challenge over at: http://cheerfulstamppad.blogspot.com/ So there is still time to enter. Here are the dish towels, or as Mom would have said tea towels, that I did a transfer onto, then stamped the Hello with a StazOn ink with an Inkadinkado stamp. ( you must be careful when heat setting the ink. I did it slowly with my embossing gun, and from a distance as not to melt the transfer ) I did color the image with Tombow markers BEFORE ironing the image to the towel. I am really disappointed in the quality of flour sack towels these days. ( I am really telling my age here )  I still have a couple my Mom had and they are soooo much better.  She used to embroider them with the days of the week and cute little pictures.  Does anybody still do that? Or has that fallen away with the use of dishwashers??  I still use them, some of the glasses have that indented bottom that holds the water.  DH says those are for drying dishes( yes he is OLD too ) and want

Blossoms in my Journal

Image
This started with layering cs strips and squares onto the page.  Then a coat of Gesso, then a lot of thinking about it.  I don't have all my stash with me so I have had to be inventive.  I took TH Distresses pads, brick red and denim blue and rubbed the page, then spritzed it with water and blended it with my fingers.  After that dried I took other TH Distressed ink pads and just stamped them all over.  Next there was a stencil added with Denim Blue ink. Once all that dried I did seal it with a spray sealant. Loved the pastel look and the dimension the stacked cs created, but it needed something else to add some depth, so I inked up a script background stamp from Rogue Redhead Designs and went over the whole page......waaaalaaa!!  I chose a set of flowers and stamped them up through the middle, coloring them with Reflections brush pens, then outlined them with a white paint pen. Here is a closer shot of the page that shows more of the dimension the stacked cs made, LOVE th

Finding Joy

Add caption In the little things! Happy Friday TGIF!!  Just a quick card that turned out fun to make, I think it was the tiny pom poms that did the trick LOL. Sorry about the glare from the glossy cs, ( I just couldn't get rid of it.) The stamp image is only 3 flowers so I double stamped it and colored it with Prisma colored pencils.  Hope everybody has a great weekend!! PS: Not to rub it in BUT the weather here in San Diego has just been beautiful, cool and over cast in the mornings and clearing off to sunny afternoons with a light breeze!  I am loving it! You're a Hoot!

Image
Happy Thursday Blog Friends!! Owls are so popular now and when I saw this stamp in the dollar bin at Michael's I couldn't resist it.  I stamped the background tag with a stamp from the "Back to Nature" set from Rogue Redhead Designs, such a cool wood grain!  I stamped the image twice, once on cream cs and then on brown cs.  I colored the highlights of the owl with gel pens, added rhinestones for the eyes, then cut him out and placed him on top of the first stamped image.  I drew him a branch to perch on, then mounted the image on brown cs and then onto the tag.  I walked outside and found some dried weeds and added them for a little texture. The owl stamp w/sentiment has no name on it, so I don't know who makes it, too bad I think he is so cool, and I love the sentiment too.  I have twine at home that I will use to attach the tag to a gift. Thanks for stopping by and love to hear your comments. Have a great day! Inky Hugs Krisha

Tangled Easter Egg

Image
Well, last week was a whirl wind of things going on here in San Diego!  Grandson was born on Tuesday, oldest son and family came on Wednesday and we were on the go!!  Then drive 5hr home Saturday for the Easter festivities, back adjustment Monday morning and 5 hr. drive back!  So there hasn't been much time to post.  This tangle of Easter eggs was done  the first week I was here waiting for Taylor to be born, and late at night, after taking a 2yr. old to the park for a couple of hours. Grandma has been getting a good work out.....LOL The color wash was done with Inktense pencils and a damp paint brush. It's feeling good to have a quiet "day off" and hope to get caught up on some posting today. Thank all of you that have been leaving me wonderful comments and I do apologize for not getting back with responses, I catch them on my cell phone, but can't respond by phone. Inky Hugs Krisha
