Thriving Art

This rainbow fish is full of birthday wishes for our grandson, who has been going fishing with his dad on the weekends.  He will be 4 years old next week, and loves to fish!! The fish is really a fun watercolor technique, and I did it last summer with the GDs and we loved doing it.  I found it on  You Tube , it's a painting for kids.......that would be me....LOL!  In short, it is very wet watercolor and blowing through a drinking straw.  The black is a sharpie.  I did use a good watercolor paper and then a glossy finish over the top. Here is the inside, background paper was made the same way as the fish, all the letters were cut with the CriCut.    When I'm finished here I will get it signed and popped into the mail.

  Well, hello there! Seems like I haven't gotten to post in forever, instead of two weeks!  We no sooner got back from our Thanksgiving jaunt to the desert and things began to jump around here.  Good thing I managed to get some Christmas cards made while we were on the desert. My friend's birthday was the 28th, so I spent a couple days making her a journal with a challenge to list at least three things, daily, to be thankful for in it.  I didn't get any photos....bummer....I think it was still damp when she opened it.......ya, that's how close to the wire things have been around here. Next up was the sell of my rental......the house I grew up in.  We had it pretty well lined out, just waiting for the buyer to close escrow on a different property to get the money for my rental.  I signed the escrow papers at 8 a.m. and it closed by 3 p.m.! I have a friend.....much younger than me.....in fact I knew her through her childhood, ( her girls even call me Grandma) and her birthday is this coming Saturday.  Aren't birthdays fun....when they happen to someone else?       So, with a wink and a nod I created this card for her.  The image is an AI image and quick to add a little watercolor to.  She is definitely a "glitter" girl so the balloons were stamped on glitter paper, then trimmed to fit the card. I chose the fuchsia, turquoise, and purple glitter as they are the colors  for the Rubber Dance Challenge for November  .  Such a quick and easy card to create, and I love using a black card base.   Here is the inside.   Thanks for stopping by and taking a look......I do hope you'll leave a comment.   Our oldest GD, Hannah, just turned 10 on Friday and this evening we are joining in the celebration. Since she is a cheerleader for a youth football team I thought this card was appropriate.......and she is a sparkly type of girl.   The front consists of all Cricut images and fonts........the background panel is the last snippet of that color of glitter paper.......which happens to be her favorite color.  It is an aqua glitter paper....but the scanner didn't pick up the color very well.   It feels good to be blogging a little more regularly again.  My summer just swoooooshed by, being kept busy with the GDs four days a week.......Now the house sits quiet    ......BUT, on the other hand G-ma now has more time to play with her stash and get back into visiting blog friends, joining some challenges and posting again....;)   Can you believe summer vacation is over and all the kid-os are back in school???  You know ...

  Today is our GDs (Megan) birthday party, she is turning 6......but not until NEXT weekend. She shares a birthday with her Uncle Ken and he is turning 40 this year( next weekend's BIG celebration), so, being Megan, she decides that THIS year she will give the day to her Uncle Ken "cause he is turning 40, and I'll let him have a special day.....and I'll have all the rest!"  LOL!!  Kids!   Since I have been banned from ever buying an other birthday card for my family, this is the one I created for Megan.  She is a "purple" girl and LOVES anything glittery! I did do the inside of this card too.  This is a saying, that her and I use ALL the time.  I found it on the Cricut program and HAD to use it. When she gets to the "and a hug around the neck"  I get a big hug from her.  What's not to love about that???  I have had an other really crazy week, and not much time for creating or posting and I'm really starting to feel th...

  It isn't birthday time....yet but they are on their way and I actually got a head start on them this year!  This card is for our youngest son who will be turning........well, he will have a birthday...LOL!   The background was made using the pearl powders and embossing ink, really doesn't show well in this scan at all.......I'm about done with scanning, since my camera is sitting right here and it really isn't any more work to get them onto the PC.  Of course you should recognize the bird, he was already cut and colored, making this a quick card. Happy Tuesday, the last one for August 2015....unbelievable how fast this year is slipping away.  Time can be so precious, especially when it comes to kids growing up.  Hannah, our oldest GD will turn 9 years old tomorrow, and then six days later her cousin (whom I call my GD too) turns 9 years old.....yep only 6 days apart and their Moms are sisters........LOL  During "Camp Grandma" this summer I discovered Rachel like to tangle and do dangles, so this is where this card comes from, adding sparklies is a plus for all 9 year old girls!!!(But they don't photograph well)  The stings are self adhesive, but all those little pink stones I had to glue on one by one......LOL Won't attempt that again!!   Yes, indeed this is my 4th post this week........no gasping or holding your breath PLEASE! *grin*  It has been such a busy summer that my blogging all but died, BUT I'm back now and hope to keep up with all the Blogland adventures.   Our oldest GD, Hannah, will turn 9 years old next week and this is the card I created for her.  I have quite a few of these Prima Doll stamps and enjoy paper piecing them for cards......especially for the GDs.  ( I really have them because I loved paper dolls as a kid.....*grin*)   The card base was colored with Gelatos, then wiped with a wet wipe to blend it.  The white die cut was used for a little texture and design.  The doll was stamped onto a flesh colored paper and the hair colored with Prisma CP.  The dress was fussy cut from a snippet of paper that was hand decorated years ago.......back when all the pretty paper wasn't readily available.  For the ruffle and bow I used a little snip...
