T Stands for Getting Prepared

Image
Only 4- 5, depending on where you live, days left in 2016, are you ready for the new year??? It is frosty out this morning so I hope you brought along something warm to drink. I know the  T-gang  are here with their drinks in hand.  My coffee always comes with me in the mornings. I came in here to work on a journal for the new year.  It had been put together and some paint put on the pages over a month ago, then set aside as the holiday grew closer and things started to really get busy around here.  I have it set up, like a planner, with a week spreading across two pages......Monday through Sunday.  Well, the 1st of January is a Sunday hmmmmmmm! Hadn't thought about THAT! So the first day of the first month is on the first page....LOL!  Here are a few pages from my trial run. You can see the 2017 journal under it waiting for a bit more of something.  It started as just a journal, a week on each page, but I wasn't consis...

T - La Fonda-Painting

Image
La Fonda is a (one of many) small Mexican restaurant, here in Shafter.  We have more than our share, but that's the demographic of this region.  DH and I prefer this one to any of the others, the food is authentic and it is always served piping hot!     It is a walk up and order, then they bring it to your table, type of place.     The menu has pictures too........incase you can't read Spanish.......LOL!  The prices are reasonable for this area. You might be able to read it if you click on the photo and enlarge it......or just take my word for it...*grin*   I snuck a picture, over the wall, where we were sitting, not many people last Tuesday.  It is usually packed at lunch time, but this was the day after Labor Day.  Rather a boring place, no art on the walls at all, there are three TVs, all on Spanish stations.  All I have is a very limited amount of Spanish, so I occasionally catch a word here ...

Earthquakes....Coffee....Water...Wine and Art for T-day

Image
Hello, Hello again..........Welcome to an other T-day post, a time for linking up with Altered Book Lover to be ever so nosey as to what other fellow bloggers are drinking.  As is every morning my cup has coffee in it.....black if you please.  You might want to get a "full" drink before continuing this post......it's a LONG one......so I will apologize in advance....but you have been warned!!   I must say, you just missed it last Tuesday!  What????  Here in the San Joaquin Valley we felt the earth mover under our feet........Thank you Carole King!!  "A 4.8-magnitude earthquake shook the Wasco area of Kern County Tuesday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor hit 22 miles outside of Bakersfield at 4:10 p.m."  Well, Wasco may have gotten the headlines because it happened in their city limits, but it was located about 6 miles west from MY house! Hadn't felt one in quite a while, so the first jerk and boom got my ...

T Stands for ........

Image
Right now I have quite a bit on my "plate" and almost didn't attend the "Tea Party"  this week, but as I came in to finish this painting I set my coffee down and grabbed my camera......... So instead of getting this finished and getting some sympathy cards made I am sitting here chatting on my laptop, just long enough to drink that cup of coffee......LOL The painting is called "Winter Birch Trees" and I watched a video, by the Art Sherpa, on You Tube.  You can see the video HERE .  I still have the "eyes", as Cinnamon called them, to add and then some splattering for falling snow.  I enjoy her videos, and there are a few other I'd like to "try". I also received some Happy Mail from our Jinxxxygirl....Deb.   A really sweet Valentine's post card, but haven't had a chance to get it scanned, so that will be up coming.  Thanks Deb!! Sympathy cards! Ugh! Why do I wait until I NEED them?  Every tine this happens I tel...
