Thriving Art

  I'm late for the tea party over at  Altered Book Lover , and almost didn't join them this week.  Time got away from me and I didn't start my post as early as I usually do, but as I went to refresh my coffee I grabbed my camera and took a drink photo, came back to my craft space .......and well, here I am. Yesterday I started not one, but two paintings for my GD Hannah.  She had picked these two off Pinterest.....she is in the process of changing her room into more of a beach type decor, you can see the print outs of what they should look like when I'm finished. That is as far as I got before the tile contractor came to give me a bid on the flooring of our...yet to be built house. Since he just lives down the street, he dropped by on his way to work.  Then Hubby came home and we went to see a general contractor to get a bid from him.  I sure hope he isn't outrageous on his quote, we both really liked him and he has built with ICF blocks befor...

We are starting the week with bright sunshine, and after a cold and rainy weekend.....it feels good!  It looks like "spring" is really contemplating showing up this year.....shortly I hope. ~THIS WEEK FOR  T-DAY ~ This has been an other busy week, but not as busy as last week.....thank goodness.  Wednesday night was the first, of Wednesday nights, that our friends and owners of The Shop Cafe, held a Basque style dinner.  They are usually open for breakfast and lunch, closing about 1:00 P.M. Since this is a new endeavor, I went for dinner, and friendly support.  Doors opened at 6 P.M. and dinner was served at 6:30 P.M. You might want to get a fresh cup of whatever your drinking before we start........just saying..... I made sure to get there early so there would be enough light to take some photos.......YES, I remembered my camera......and to use it....LOL! Art Journal Journey challenge: Fifty Shades of Red  started on the first of February and will run the whole month.   Linda, of heARTfully Inspired blog  is our hostess this month, and the fifty shades of red was her choice.......and I think it was a really good one for this month.  Think love, Valentines , flowers ........oh, and don't forget chocolates!!! I chose to go with flowers , for my first entry, not that I'm NOT romantic.......but I've been keeping an eye on some of my flower bulbs that have broken through and are growing quickly.  Sadly they are not tulips......I might have to buy some this year. Okay, so I just gathered up a handful of red implements, Gelato, watercolor pencils, markers and watercolor paint and started, using a baby wipe to blend with.  The flowers were done in watercolor pencil and then blended with a damp paint brush, adding a bit of red watercolor to the bulbs, then splattering red, dark red and white. Well, here we are in the middle of the second week of the new year.  How is everybody doing?  So many people are down with the flu, or like me, with a head full of congestion and a horrendous cough.........ya know the kind that makes you cross your legs....LOL!  My head is starting to clear and my hearing isn't so muffled.....but this cough...YUCK!  To much info?? Today I wanted to share a page from my granddaughter, Hannah's art journal, I even chose it for a new header I like it so much.  She did this last week during our paint party. Everyone is working, or has finished preparing art journals, planners and such for the new year.  Yesterday, after journaling, I decided I had best get more weeks prepared.  So far this is what I have finished, there are a pages that will get more added as I go along, they are a bit boring at the moment.  All but week three.........I went just a little overboard on it....LOL! I use mostly cr...

VERY PHOTO HEAVY     A double page layout, finished and ready for words......But what to use??  I have many sentiments and sayings that come to me when I look at these pages.  I just can't land on one that I REALLY want to put here......so, for now, it is without words.   Here is the journey of layers, with unedited photos......and no cropping....so you can see what I've been using as mediums.  Click the images for a closer look.             The final layer is a thin coat of white acrylic paint, applied with my fingers and then using an almost dry wipe to pull the stripes and mute other areas. Sometimes it takes many layers to get it where you want it to be.......just like life....but without words.
