Shopping Divas

Art Journal Journey  still has the Out and About challenge going.......all the way to the end of the month. This month it is Yvonne (  Meggys Way ) who chose the challenge, and it has caused quite a stir of creativity....but you have to check it out to see what I mean. Today I am sharing my latest journal page.......guess I was day dreaming about shopping.  It is mostly acrylic paint, the background being a mop-up from finger painting flowers.  The image of the shoppers is from Art Impressions......I thought they were Park Avenue worthy. The highlights on the Park Avenue are  a metallic gold, but scanners just don't like to show anything shiny. :(( The weather has turned nice here, getting a little warm in the afternoons, but settling down to cool evenings and nights.  The kind of weather where you sleep with the windows open.....LOVE IT!  Although the temps nearly hit 90' (F) this week.....not Quite ready for THAT yet!  They are predi...

AJJ Beach bound

Image
Art Journal Journey  started the challenge for March with  Yvonne  as hostess for Out and About. I am finding this challenge to be a lot of fun.  Just imagine going out and about and what you might do or see. Since we are having our second day, in a row, of sunshine, even though it is still a bit chilly out there my mind has gone out and about ,wondering west to the beach Just a quick acrylic painting over a mop up page, you can see around the edges and even spot here and there of the under painting. Thanks for stopping by!

Large Daisies in My Journal

Image
Last Friday  Helen Allen  had posted at video, on her blog, using many Faber Castell products.  Her video was the inspiration for this journal page.   There are layers of Gesso, Gelatos, napkins, doilies, ink and paint. I'm not crazy about the top doily covering the top daisy, but it is what it is....*grin*  It was still a very fun page to do, and she did inspire me to use more than just one or two mediums........Thanks Helen!    Thanks for stopping by.... Booms and Butterflies

Image
I have been MIA, from my blog, for a couple of weeks.....sometimes LIFE just gets out of hand.....and I won't tell you an untruth, there have been days of just LAZINESS!! LOL!   I have been working in some of my journals (during the lazy days.....just too lazy to scan, edit and post)   This page was made for a couple of challenges (listed below) It was a fun page to make because I  used different techniques and mediums.   The first layer was Gesso with ink added to tin the background.  I used a daisy stencil and embossing ink for the background daisies, then pink and white embossing powder.  The other flowers were embossed with white EP, then the color was inked in and fussy cut.  The butterflies followed the same process.  Once everything was glued down I used a couple of leaf stems and added the greenery.  Around the edges of the page with some distressed ink for some aging and I was finished. ...

It's A Great Day to be Alive

Image
It is a beautiful Sunday morning here in SOCAL and it is a great day to be alive, which brings me to this journal page I finished at the beginning of the week.  I've had a crazy-busy month and I took one evening to contemplate what to do with this page.....I had decided I didn't like what was originally on it and covered it with left over acrylic paint weeks ago.  I beefed up the background with some brighter colors, quickly drew in and colored the flower, then added the sentiment.   I saw this sentiment on Facebook, which had come from Pinetrest, I'm sure, and I really liked it....and it made me think of Travis Tritt's song "Its a Great Day to Be Alive".....and a journal page was born.   I have decided to link it up with the   Art Journal Journey......For the Record  challenge.     Everyday is a great day to be alive, and the older I get the more I say that to myself....cause complaining isn't going to help make t...

More Mixed Media and some photo fun

Image
It is midway through the More Mixed Media challenge and the challenge for this month is "Blue".... a nice winter color don't you think? All though our weather is more gray than blue, since the fog has rolled in.   This journal page started with some scraps of blue prints that I had die cut flowers from.  Gesso and blue paint were added then some of the left over die cut flowers (TH Tattered Flower die)  Once it all dried I took some Pitt pens and doodled all over it.   With DH home (way more than usual due to the rain) I have been relaxing on the sofa, in the evenings, watching the programs HE likes to watch (which he tapes then watches)  I'm not too much into some of the reality ( or should I say "almost" reality) programs he watches......but I digress. It dose give me time to just sit and doodle and spend time with him.......I do have to comment once in  a while.....LOL!!   I was scanning this page and putting it through MS D...

Show Your Face

Image
This week I have decided to join in with Kim Dellow: Show your face.   Here is my first go at it. I did this in about 15 minutes just using Inktenese Water color pencils and on of the Inktense outliners, water and a small round brush.  The close up is more true to color, this one on the bottom is a little washed out by the Ott light.  I enjoyed doing this with just a washed technique, keeping it rather loose........might even try it again next week......LOL Thanks for stopping by, have a great and creative weekend. A Journal Mixed Media Journey

Image
Wooossh! Plop! Here it is Friday already!! This week has disappeared faster than ice cream on a hot day, and around here that is pretty fast!    I dug out my 9" x 12" journal for just a quick play.......and it became a weeks journey.....LOL  Maybe because there isn't much that I didn't use on it!!      It all started with those packs of punched glitter circles, that were made from the scraps I had left over from making "Frozen" party decorations last year.   On UN-Gessoed page I started with Gelatoes.........   A baby wipe to blend it all together..........   A circle stencil, spritz and sprays of ink..........   Modeling paste came next, using the same stencil......... Gluing the glitter circles and paper doilies............................ a closer look..............        A little dangling with a Pitt Pen then acrylic paint for some flowers........

Hump Day RE-DOs

Image
Here we are in the middle of the week..."hump day" down hill to the weekend from here.....LOL     I was re-visiting some journal pages, that I had done for a couple of challenges, that I just didn't like.  Do you ever end up with these?  Do you just leave them?  Normally I do just let them be, as "bad art", but these two pages I just couldn't let be, they were driving me nuts!!!  I know, I could just leave the journal closed, but I couldn't forget about them.......LOL   So I took some Gesso and then some acrylic paint to them, and started over.  The above one was kept very simple indeed.  After getting the background painted I added a napkin ( part of a gift from Chris)   I did pull the layers apart and tore the edges before adhering it to the page.  The sentiment is a stamp I have had for YEARS!!   Now I re-visit this page and smile.     This page, from the same journal, was covered with ma...
