This will be last live post for the next 10 days, I will have a few scheduled for your entertainment, but the chances of me getting back to anybody who comments probably won't happen until we get back form vacation.  I will check in with my cell phone, but returning comments s just to technical for me LOL!   This week Krishtin has the colors gray, lavender and plum for the Summer of Color ( or SOC) challenge.  Personally, I think these colors are gorgeous together.  I actually came into the craft room to gather a few items I want to take with me on this trip, and there set this challenge, right in the middle of Betsy!  Well, I HAVE been busy loading the Playhouse, and I REALLY did need a break... So I reached for some acrylic paints and began.  I did end up using markers for the sentiment I found in a book of phrases.  ALL VERY loosely painted, but it was a lot of fun to create. So what's in the glass this week?  A great mix of Watermelon Mint Chiller and Berry Mint classic, made strong and iced down.  Makes a beautiful red tea and I am showing it off in my Mom's OLD glass pitcher.  I am not an avid tea drinker ( as you all know by now ) but I do like iced tea in the summer, but flavored teas I like sweetened.  I didn't want to add sugar, or sugar substitutes, but I wanted a little sweetness and some kind of fizz, like a wine cooler.  So me, being me, I poured in some of my diet flavored carbonated water and waaa laa!  Just what my taste buds were craving.  I know this sounds too obnoxiously outrageous to most, but it REALLY is good, and I have been drinking it everyday.  It is great for the late afternoon pick-me-ups. Since I used all that was left in both tins it made quite a bit of tea, more than pictured, so I put it in a container and stuck it in the freezer.  It is going to come in handy next week when we...

Some of you (long time followers) might remember last fall when I was taking an on-line class on how to draw and paint in a loose manner.  This is one of the pictures I drew and then colored with water colors, and I decided to (finally) mount it on a card.  I did put a layer of green cs between the picture and the base.  The sentiment is a stamp.  There are still a couple more of these "little" painting hanging around, don't know if they will make it onto a card or not. I'm truly NOT hording them, I'm unsure if the others are really good enough to put on a card..........or anything else.....LOL I am entering this in Less is More  challenge of watercolor: to use watercolors somehow/where on your card. Today I am linking up with the Inkspirational challenge  which is blue with white or cream. I used blue ink to emboss the image from Stubby Stampers, then blue markers to color it in.  I used the same ink and embossing powder for the background and the sentiment, with everything layered onto a solid blue cs. I've been doing a LOT of art journaling and this weekend I just felt like some card challenges.  This is one of four cards.  So buckle-up there are more post coming your way. Only a few more days left in this month, but still time enough to join the Unruly Paper Arts Reader Art Quests. And here is my entry for both RAQ prompts.   (sorry about the crooked scan, that horizon makes me dizzy LOL) This is one of those pages, the page is ok, but not what I had pictured in my mind. I tore, and tore, and tore some more, little strips of paper, solids and prints.  Then glued them down, to semi form the setting sun and the waves washing up on the beach.  I did do an acrylic wash over the colors and painted in the clouds and a few white caps on the water.   It is pretty primitive, at best, but it really was therapeutic to just tear and glue while listening to some soft jazz.    Inky Hugs Krisha   

I am actually early (for me) with the challenge for  Journal 52, and this is week 25, with the prompt being "Inspired by nature"  We have three very large trees in our yard, one in the front and two in the back.  They are getting to be about 30 years old, and the gorgeous one in the front yard is in need of being taken out, so everybody tells me.  I am hoping they can trim it back (and not kill it) enough so it doesn't split and land on the neighbor's garage, and I still get to keep the tree.  Long story made short this is the journal 52 page I did as an "ode to the front yard tree"   I did remember to take some photos as I went along this journey.  Now that I have it scanned, I see it leaning............LOL I started with water color base markers, after sketching out the tree I sprayed on some water, but way too much.   So I tried blotting it with a baby wipe.........oh h##l no! The Cutting Edge Challenge blog is having a Designer Quest and a Launch party for their new blog and I thought I would join the fun.  They have 6 DT cards that your supposed to case and then enter the challenge.  I spotted the balloon card and thought it was the perfect choice for a birthday card I need for last Mondays birthday party. This is a mini book measuring 3" by 3" and the base of the book was made from one sheet of 12" X 12" paper.  This is the cover stamped with a background stamp for the Rogue Redheads Behind the Scenes plate RRD012, and tied with a cream colored sheer ribbon. The inside, or the base of the book, when cut and folded makes 7 pocket pages.  I have used only Rogue Redhead Designs images  through out the whole book, with Washi tape boarders.  I am not going to show each page as that would make a VERY long post, but you get the idea. Here I opened the book (pardon the binder clips) to the pages that I used some of the images from Nature Notes: plate RRD011  ,  Each page has a pocket the houses a tag. Each tag is stamped on both sides according to the plate of stamps I was using. In total I used 9 of the plates that is offered by Rogue Redhead Designs to make this mini book.   This took me a couple days to make, but I really enjoy...

Well, it is Tuesday once again, ( I am really posting this on Tuesday instead of Monday night) but either way it is still time to link up with  Elizabeth, the Altered Book Lover  . Last night (Monday) we attended a birthday party for a dear friend of ours, who was celebrating his 70th birthday.  This picture looks like the end of the party, but in reality everybody had just gotten up to get some food. This is the birthday boy, Radon and his wife, Judy..................and Arley there in the back.  Oh yes it was a party with a lot of fun people.  Both Judy and Radon are retired high school teachers and lived across the street from us for years.  We were both pregnant when Bob and I moved into our house, and we both had boys.  Brian and Lance are still very close, well.....all 5 of the kids are close.  Both families spent a LOT of time together and when it came time for my boys to go to high school they had to remembe...

Now you know my imagination is working OVERTIME when I start combining challenges.  For some it seems to be a very easy thing to do, but for me(?)  It really does take some hard core thinking!  Something I am not used to.........LOL So here are the challenges: Allsorts Challenge Blog  White, gold and a touch of an other color.  Gold paper ribbon, gold embossing on the stamped image, then trimmed out, on a white card with a touch of pink under the punched boarder.  Great color combos can be found on this challenge blog, hop over and take a look........they would love it! Just a quick journal share this morning (still morning here in CA) whilest having my last cup of coffee. Caffeine is the BEST starter fluid I know of.....LOL. I pulled out my Tangle / Doodle journal a couple days ago to finish the very last page, but as I flipped through it I landed on a page that I thoroughly HATED!  I couldn't jerk it out and toss it, because I like the other side, so I painted it with black acrylic.    Once it was dry I traced a feather stencil I have had for a couple of weeks, with a white Gel pen.  Then I took it to sofa, turned on NCIS reruns and started to doodle away.  As the gel dried some of the color started to appear.........cool, almost like scratch art eh?  That gel pen must have a touch of alcohol in it to dissolve  the paint. Well, do you have stash that you own and have never used it??  " What!" you say " of course I USE EVERYTHING I buy, or am given! "  Of course you do!!!  LOL  But I have accumulated quite a stash over the years (ok, I'm still accumulating) and there are things I now own that for some reason, other than just having an old memory, I have forgotten about.  Like this morning I was straightening up Betsy and came across two brand new Sharpie markers, still in the package, and I almost bought me some yesterday!!! So, if you're like me, even a little bit, then now is the time to get out those NBUS things and have a play with them.  A great gal over at The Playhouse (not to be confused with mine that is on wheels)  Darnell  has set in motion a great challenge and it is the  NBUS Challenge! Well, I couldn't let a dear friend down so this morning I had a "play" with a set of stamps from Fiskers, that I have had for some time.  I think ...

This weeks prompt is Passion, hummmmmm??? I guess I am a very passionate person, cause I couldn't land on just one thing I am passionate about...LOL My scanner is a little smaller than my journal, so the very bottom is always cut off.  As soon as I run out of ink (in the printer) I am going to set up the brand new one I bought last month (IT WAS $100.00 OFF)  It has a scanner that will scan a 13" X19" page........oh ya, I can't wait to get that baby set up and working. Ok, back to this journal page.  I threw a lot of schtuff at it, and had so much fun.  There is modeling paste through stencils, Gesso, then Gelatos, then some ink sprays that were smeared around for a good background.  I took some blue ink and dripped it down the page, and spritzed it with water, turning it this way , and that way.  Once the page was dry I used a large fingernail file and filed the ink off some places of the paste.  A few stamped images (the geometric one...

Back from a week away from WOYWW , and ready to reveal my ATCs and all the loot that came with them and that is what is on Betsy this week.
