T Stands for We Won!!
Hello T-gang and anybody else that is happening by. This weeks drink photo is WATER, and we drank a lot of it over the weekend.
Here is what our cook station looks like.....Ken on the left and our son, Brian on the right.....and back there is the back (without a team shirt) is Bob......my hubby. This was early in the morning and as the day progressed we did hang a shade along the back, even though the temperature was a mild 77" (F) and there was a nice breeze all day.
For this competition there are only three meat categories.....chicken, pork ribs and beef tri-tip (which seems to be a California cut of beef, as there are many who do not know what this cut is...and I can't explain it...LOL)
There weren't many cook teams, only 7. This is a small community, like Shafter, but this event is growing little by little. Last year there were on 6 cook teams and we took 1st in tri-tip, 2nd in ribs and 3rd in chicken.......and we were happy!! THIS YEAR we took 1st in tri-tip, 1st in ribs and 1st in chicken.......WOOT! WOOT! .........and THAT also gave us Grand Champion! Needless to say, even though it was a small competition we are still strutting our wins!
The guys sent me up to collect the wins and get a photo taken. Drawing your attention away from that horrid photo of me..............those three envelopes hold our cash winnings.......oh ya, there was cash to be won...............and we took it ALL!
Here we are (DH is behind me :( ) with the Wasco Alliance people who put this event on. Super great people and it is a non-profit organization......the money that is won is from the entry fees and is given all back to the winners.....the Alliance keeps nothing. All the little things, like turn-in boxes and space in the building, DJ music...............is all donated. The City of Wasco wants this event to happen so the communities can come together and get to know each other. Is that great?? Now I'm going to start working on Shafter to do the same thing!
Time now to link up with the T-gang over at the Altered Book Lover. Got a food and/or drink photo to share? We would love to have you join us!

We had a chili cook off last weekend and there were over 60 entrants. You could buy a chance to taste up to 5 different ones for $5.00. Unlike your wonderful organizers, ours kept the money and split it with Old Town where the event was held, and gave some away to the winners. For the life of me, I can't see how they could possibly choose the best chili, if everyone is only allowed to taste five cups.
Thanks for sharing your much more enlightening story than mine with us for T this week. And I'll take one of those waters, please.
In response to your comment, I live in BEEF country, dear, and there are very few vegetarian offerings on ANY restaurant menu. I've learned to live with it.
happy t-day!
Happy T day
