My first canvas

For October Unruly Arts has put us to the test for RAQ1 and for RAQ 2( that's Reader Art Quest). RAQ1 is to use paint, or a painted project.  RAQ2 is to add dimension to a canvas.  So I rolled them into one project, simply because I couldn't find my note book and remember which was which. ( My work desk, "Betsy" had had a jolly time hiding my note book.) The background of this canvas is layers of paint and gesso buildup, including some stenciling and some stamping.  Like I said LAYERS.  Once I had gotten that far I wasn't really sure which direction I want to go from there.

I loved the blue and avocado green peeking through the white.  In a closeup you can see where I stamped swirls with a soft leaf color and an soft ocean colored ink.  I chose the two tones of blue print paper for the flowers and use Tim Holtz's Tattered flower die.  I kinda grundged them up and added a Rhine stone to the middle.  I found some avocado green print and cut a swirly and some leave with the Cricut machine.  After fiddling with the layout I decided to add the avocado grosgrain ribbon.  The sentiment was cut with the Cricut, and three little flower rhinestones finished the project.
Have you ever created a canvas?  I did really enjoy the making of this one, and I liked it so much I hung it here im my craft room! LOL  There is still the whole month of October to give each RAQ a try and post it to their blog.  Where is it you say?
