Card Patterns challenge 160

Image
Over at Card Patterens blog there is a sketch challenge and this is the card I chose for the challenge.  It is a birthday card for our youngest son.  The ship image is from Lucy's stamps, it was stamped and then colored with water color pencils.  I aged the image and the card with Tim Holtz's aged photo ink.  The image is layered onto red cs and then navy cs.  The sentiment is PC generated.  Even though I have 2 sons masculine cards are sometimes hard for me to create.  Check out the DTs samples here.

Easter Card

This little card just will not scan right.  The colors are a soft yellow floral print, cream and white. UGH!  The stamp sentiment is a dollar find from Craft Smart.  I used a boarder punch along the edge, then slip a strip of the same background paper under it.  White ribbon, pearls and silk roses were used for accents. This will actually be used as a Thank You card tomorrow (Easter Sunday)  for my long time friend Carol who hosts Easter Sunday in her beautiful back yard.  I swear this lady can grow anything and make it bloom!!  She is not only a long time friend but the "other" Grandma.  Her daughter married my oldest son, so we share Granddaughters!!!!!  30 years ago who would of guessed???? So many blessings!!!

GC 144 color challenge

Once again it is time for the Gingersnapcreations color challenge.  This has been a annual challenge in celebration of their blog birthday.  The colors are always ginger, rust and copper. I love this Magenta stamp and have used it hundreds of times.  This time I embossed with copper embossing powder and used felt pens to color it, then I spritzed it with water and dabbed some of the color off. I trimmed it out and mounted it on a scraps ( I am trying to use as many scraps as possible these days ) of printed paper, black cs and mirrored turquoise cs, these all sit on a copper metallic, dry embossed, vellum.  The sentiment is form Inkadinkado.

A Quick Easter Card

I haven't made many cute style cards until I had granddaughters.  This card is for my youngest Danica ( but we call her Dani, so no I didn't forget the C A a the end LOL )  I found this dollar stamp at Michael's Craft store the other day and picked it up. Sharon Briss, a very talented lady has   http://www.rogueredheaddesigns.com/ a great stamp designer http://unrulypaperarts.blogspot.com/ a new Blogozine http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Unruly/ a new group shouldn't miss out on (I told you she was talented1 ) She had posted a card on her blog http://illtemperedink.blogspot.com/2012/04/simple-feline-inkiness.html  using sponging.  Back to basics is sometimes a good motivator.  I cut out my oval then sponged on some yellow ink. I stamped the image on the oval and colored it with felt pens.  I cut the ends of the oval and ran a dotted ribbon under the image.  I used alpha bet stickers for the name and outlined them with a darker shade, then a coordinating bow finish

Out of My Comfort Zone

Image
This card was made for a color challenge that I missed the date on but decided to post anyway.  It took me out of my comfort zone with the colors ( or maybe it was my choice of cs LOL ) The colors were pink, yellow and orange..........orange being the color outside the " Zone ". I also subscribe to the Thefrugalcrafterweblog  Lindsey had a tutorial on colored pencils and making an image pop of printed cs.  So this was my endeavor.  I love my colored pencils, but I really should have picked different colors for this half of the challenge.  Oh well, live and learn, I will try this again with colors I am VERY comfortable with LOL!!!! The rose is from Comotion Stamps.
