T Stands for The Shop Cafe

Image
We are starting the week with bright sunshine, and after a cold and rainy weekend.....it feels good!  It looks like "spring" is really contemplating showing up this year.....shortly I hope. ~THIS WEEK FOR  T-DAY ~ This has been an other busy week, but not as busy as last week.....thank goodness.  Wednesday night was the first, of Wednesday nights, that our friends and owners of The Shop Cafe, held a Basque style dinner.  They are usually open for breakfast and lunch, closing about 1:00 P.M. Since this is a new endeavor, I went for dinner, and friendly support.  Doors opened at 6 P.M. and dinner was served at 6:30 P.M. You might want to get a fresh cup of whatever your drinking before we start........just saying..... I made sure to get there early so there would be enough light to take some photos.......YES, I remembered my camera......and to use it....LOL! This building has been a number of different eateries, but Mark has been here the long...

Happy Little Post Card

Image
Deb of Learning to Just Breath  and I have been exchanging post cards for well over a year now.  It has been so much fun to receive her's as she is such a diverse artist......all our post cards are hand made and we try to recycle as much materiel as possible. This one is winging it's way east already.  I chose to use a piece of watercolor paper I had "played" with at last weeks paint party, to show the young-ungs stencils. I thought it a good choice as it is mostly acrylic paint, and with the weather has been erratic in all parts of the nation, is waterproof.  I did add some swirls and whirls with StazOn ink (waterproof too) and the Happy New Year is stamped with paint.  This is adhered to a scrap of white cardboard form my stash. I wrote the year with a paint pen. There are quite a few Mixed Media challenges running this month.......such yummy stuff to behold at these sites. Here are the ones I want to enter this post card in: challenge: An...

The Witch's New Shoes

Image
I've only done a few Halloween cards this year ( so far).  I don't really send out very many, but this one is going to a friend of mine.  The inside reads "chocolate does the rest" and I'll glue in a chocolate candy. The die cuts came from a stamp and die set I bought on clearance last year.   The background is a fun technique that I learned from visiting Karen's Kreative Kards .  She is one of my new followers and is a DIE CUT QUEEN!  OMGosh, she has some fabulous cards on her blog.   The background is created by wrapping foil over card stock, rubbing with ink.....I used Stazon...placing in embossing folder and embossing.  A quick swipe with and embossing pad, then embossing power and heat!  I must warn you....this can quickly become addictive as each one turns out different!! Here is a closer look. Trying to photograph tin foil is tricky to say the least.....it loves to flash back at you!  So I filtered the flash ...

Frosty card

Image
The challenges have gone out, and I found this card will match some of them.  It is a stamp I bought last year and just love the way it looks with Sugar Dust over the top of it.  Makes it look very frosty indeed, although it is had to catch with a camera.  Sugar Dust is a rather "old" technique, and the stuff is just micro small, clear glass beads.  I used a spray adhesive over the stamped image and then Sugar Dusted it.  So now the secret is out: "I've started on my "C" cards"......*grin*  I do have Thanksgiving cards ready to mail.  I don't make very many for Thanksgiving, but there are a few that I feel I need to send to.   Here are the challenges I am going to enter this card in.  I do hope you will take a minute and check them all out.   Let it snow challenge Winter challenge Anything Goes challenge Inky Hugs Krisha

Lots of Layers......a mixed media card

Image
Here we are, around the bend of the week, headed for the weekend.  I hope the week has been a creative one for all of you.  Since cleaning, and getting some organizing done, my MOJO seems to have gone into overdrive....yea!  About time he got back here and to lend a hand.....and just in time to help with the Allsorts Challenge  and Mixed Media Monthly challenge   Today's offering is a card with quite a few layers, most of which were just laying on Betsy, as cast offs.  The card base was covered with a soft rainbow paper months ago, then just put into a "not this time" pile.........do you have one of these? It now works for the photo challenge at Mixed Media Monthly challenge . The embossed edges were edges of cards that had been die cut and embossed.......one was crooked the other rumpled the back of the card.  Trimming them off and adding them to this card worked a little better....*grin*  The ornamental die cut (from Anna Griffin) was cu...
