Craft Barn Challenge

Image
I missed getting this journal page entered into the Craft Barn Challenge but click the link to see all the fantastic entries that did make it.  I really don't have a GOOD excuse for not making the challenge, this has been finished and scanned for a week......LOL  The challenge was Passion and or Music, and as you can see I chose music.  I used Gelatos for the background and a black Sharpie, adding white Gel pen to the letters.  For kicks I put a sticker of a record (something long forgotten, the black vinyl recordings) in the lower right corner with the date in the center and music notes stickers scattered here and there. The lyrics are from the Loving Spoonful's "Do You Believe in Magic"  A very OLD song that once I think about it I end up humming it all day............ Journal 52 week 21: Mandala

Image
Hello, and thanks for stopping by today to check out my Journal 52 offering for this week.  The prompt was to make a mandala, which lead me straight to a tangled inspiration.  I drew it all in black marker, and started to color it in and then thought" naaah, really not in the mood to color it all in".  So what is left?  Why my favorite things spritz and sprays with a good dose of water sprayed onto it.  You can't see it (because of the scanner) I ended with a gold shimmer over the top. Now I'm off to visit all those who so graciously visited yesterday, since I spent most of the afternoon getting a new cell phone (looong story) and then learning how to use it and getting it set up the way I like it.......LOL! Let me know you were here...... Inky Hugs Krisha

A Milliner Miss Thank You

Image
For this DT project I have chosen to stay with a black and white color theme for this Milliner Miss image from the Rogue Redhead Designs Milliner Misses mini plate.  RRD007 .   The images are mounted on a black glossy cardstock and then onto a white card base. The black lace is a Washi style tape I found at the $$ store, adding a simple thank you form the Nature Notes RRD011 .   This is such a great mini plate of stamps to play with and it is on sale for the month of May for ONLY $5.00 (US).   Thanks for stopping by, have a great day, and please let me know you came by. WOYWW 260 Happy Anniversary Julia!

Image
So we have FINALLY made it to the 5 th Anniversary for Ms. Julia (who Dunnit) at the Stamping ground)  Let the party begin!!  I just got in from GD's tumbling class, made me a cup of sweet coffee, and checked to see if the party had started yet. (I do hate being late LOL) It is still Tuesday night, here in California.  so this week Betsy looks a little mixed up.  I had cleaned everything up, well, err.....pushed it aside to work on a Mandala for Journal 52, then got distracted with something shinny ( I'm sure it was shinny (?) So here everything sets just as I jumped up from it this afternoon.  The far left is a box (with big dots on it), that contains things that NEED to be put away, next to it is a pile of junk .....stuff with a Prima Doll Stamp on top (all this needs to be put away too).  Behind that is a box of small stamps, stamp cleaner, spam can waiting to be made into a storage container for something, tilted easel , collected tools along the back, bottle of GD'

Tea Time is Here

Image
Hello again, yes it is "tea time" once again with our hostess and her sidekick Elizabeth and Bluebeard. , and the last one for the month of May.....can you believe we are only a few days from June?  Everybody has seen all my coffee and tea cups, water bottles, Styrofoam cup and even my wine glass, so this week I am offering up a "tea" card.  I have a program for the Cricut that cuts this card with the tea cup in the window.  I just cut it twice to get the pink cup to overlay on the brown, added a soft pink and white stripe paper behind it, then die cuts, stickers, washi tape and wa-la!   It is still Monday evening here in SOCAL, the end of a three day weekend ( here in the States) is slowly coming to a close. We spent a very quiet 3 days here at home, just the DH, the dog and myself.  We puttered around in the mornings, while it was cool, caught up on some movies and programs we taped during the week, during the heat of the day. So it has been a very LAZY t

Unruly Paper Arts Reader Art Quest

Image
It has been quite a while since I joined in one of the Unruly Paper Arts RAQ .  For the month of May the Reader Art Quest is: This has been going on all month and here I am, only two days left (deadline is May 28) with an entry.......is that not typical??? LOL  I gave this a go in one of my art journals and this is what I produced: I had this pictured in my head from a video I watched on You Tube quite some time ago.  Sorry I can't give credit, that is how long ago it was.    This took me a couple of days to complete, letting paint dry, letting modeling paste dry, die cutting flowers and fence........well you get the idea. If I had a chance for a "Do Over" I think I would white wash the flowers and leaves to tone them down a bit.  But, as is life, there aren't any "Do Overs" (per say) so this will just stand as it is in my journal. Thanks for stopping by, PLEASE let me know you were here. Inky Hugs Krisha

Completed Art Journal pag3

Image
I'm back again this week with page 3, an other double page LO.  The background for these pages are designer paper that I glued in place, then took some markers and doodled away.  I think this is my favorite way to "zen" out Thanks for stopping by, stay tuned for next journal share on next Monday. Journal 52 week 20

Image
"Create a page inspired by a book you read. It can be the last book you read or a favorite book." This is this week's prompt for Journal 52 , and being a person that has read many, many, many, and a couple more, books I could not pick a "favorite" book.  Nor could I pick a specific one that has really"inspired" me.  I did just finish "The Son of Neptune" by Rick Riordan, but, well, it wasn't where my MOJO wanted to go....LOL So this is where my MOJO took me, a little trip down memory lane. After gluing torn book pages down I sprits and sprayed some inks. ( much too bright) then a quick, thin wash of Gesso brought the colors to a more workable stage. A few tugs and rubs got the edges to curl and tear.  I drew the bottom book boarder then washed the books with thinned down Gelato colors and just wrote the titles on the books.  I created the "Once Upon A Time" book with card stock and stickers, then added a swirly!  WA-LA! a

WOYWW 259 One more to go!!!

Image
If I wasn't putting a count on each post I would think there were two Wednesdays back to back!  But we are counting it down and only ONE more week before the biggest, baddest, boldest, desker anniversary for Queen of the deskers Ms. Julia (who Dunnit at the Stamping Ground) .  It will be her 5th anniversary and all the ATC will fly around the world in her honor. So for #259 Betsy is rather quiet, being "bumped" out a bit by a sick GD this week.  While Megan was napping I stole away for a secret meeting with Betsy and got my Journal 52 page started.  So to the right is the book I bought at the Dollar store (yes I did read it, and now I know why it was at the Dollar store), paint brush, gesso, J52 page a Moo form Trisha too, pencil, glue stick and scissors.  Along the back are two ATCs I have received from across the pond, yes I am keeping them hidden, but I did want to show off the beautiful card that came with one of them.  I will show off everything, including a

T and BBQ Competition

Image
THIS IS A VERY  PHOTO HEAVY POST   Here is my cup, with choice of beverage: flavored carbonated water for this Tuesday's post (written on Monday night) But the picture is from Friday (now this might get confusing  LOL)    This last weekend was our first BBQ Competition for this season and boy was the weather HOT.  Friday, about noon we pulled my son's trailer in and started getting things set up, it was 102' (F) here that day! (thank goodness the trailer has an air conditioner)  His trailer is a toy hauler so the BBQs roll into the back of it. (a toy hauler is a RV trailer that a dune/sand buggy, quads, motorcycles and such can be hauled to designated areas in)     These BBQ Competitions are a family thing for us, so there is a lot of helpers, and a lot of things that need to be done, everyone sort of knows, or finds a niche, claims it and that is what they do.  My DIL and I prepare the turn in boxes with beds of lettuce and parsley around the edges.  The mea

Completed Art Journal pg 2

Happy Monday everybody!  This is week two of my completed art journal, and as you can see I did have fun with some fall colors.  According to the date in the lower right hand corner I did this on Halloween.  Acrylic paint for the background, leaves were made with a stencil and a white gel pen. I free handed a cut out heart and doodle around it, then use a metallic gold marker for the words and then reinforced them with a black marker. No personal journaling, which you really won't find in my art journals. Thanks for taking a look, let me know you were here. Inky Hugs Krisha

Journal 52 week 19

Image
I've fallen a little behind this week with Journal 52.  , well, behind in getting it posted.  This page had to wait for all the BBQ competition festivities to be over. (More about that later in the week) The prompt for week 19 was Photography,  incorporate a photograph into your art journal.  Now you all know I am a G-Ma of 4 and always try to have my camera at hand......LOL  BUT, I was really looking for a different picture I had in mind, when I came across these two of Megan from an afternoon she spent with me. So how could I choose just one? Actually your lucky I stopped at only two!!! Background is modeling paste, acrylic paint and some inky sprays hit with a lot of water.  I tore the edges of the photos, added some distressed inks to the edges to add a little more interest, the sentiments are stamps. Let me know you came by Inky Hugs Krisha

Masculine birthday card

Image
Today's share is a masculine birthday card using an Impression Obsession stamp of a light house.  I have had this stamp for years and it is still my "go to" for nautical style masculine cards.  It was colored with Primas, inked around the edges with TH Distressed inks and a die cut from Carole's Creative Critters .  The sentiment is Hero Arts. You would think I would have an easy time with masculine cards, having raise two sons, but the truth is they are just as hard for me.  I don't have a LOT of masculine stamps, so the boys have seen just about all I have, in many different ways.....LOL Thanks for stopping by, let me know you did Inky Hugs Krisha

Rogue Redheads Designs' Dot in Yellow

Image
sorry about the poor scan of this card I have used this image of Dot many, many times.  She is from the Milliner Misses mini plate . I fell in love with her when Shar used her for the RRD logo, and couldn't wait for the stamp image to be released.  So it is only fitting that I use her for my DT project during the month of May since this is the plate of the month. Dot is stamped on a lacy die cut and I chose to use yellow markers for her this time.  This dc was mounted onto an embossed cs, at an angle, then onto a yellow cs, then a white card base.  With a dc flower and leaves and the Milliner Misses sentiment to finish the look. Don't miss the chance to get this mini plate of stamps on sale this month. Let my know what you think of Dot in yellow........ Inky Hugs Krisha

WOYWW 258 Getting ready

Image
WOOT! WOOT! it's Wednesday again and here is Betsy all decked out in ATCs for the 5 anniversary of The Stamping Ground  (yes this is a little staged....grin) Along the edges you sill see some of the new "toys" that the UPS man delivered today.  To the left are some new tools for the Cricut, somehow I managed to drop mine behind the large metal cabinet it sits on, glue pot (old) easel with a colored image (old/new) two re inkers for my Stazon ink pad, Prima doll stamp and three small die cuts propped against the light.  To the left are my glasses (old) and a new magnetic base for the Big Shot to hold the thin dies in place.  All the new things were pushed to the edges so I could lay out the ATCs. I have about 10 that are not spoken for and would love to trade them.  You can dash me an e-mail to lmogle1950 at yahoo dot com with your addy Keeping it as short as possible this week so our illustrious leader, and queen of the deskers Ms. Julia ( who Dunnit at the Stamping

T sTands for Today

Image
Not much in the way of new and exciting here this week, even have a throw back picture, but it is what I am drinking as I write this post.  Just how many pictures do I need of a water bottle? LOL Mother's Day weekend was great, Friday night we went to the stock car races, hadn't been to one of them in years.  I prefer the Famoso Drags, but this was a nice change.  Mother's Day we went to our oldest son's house for a BBQ, the GDs swam for a short while.  The pool is still cold, but with the temperatures climbing to the triple digits this week it won't be much longer and even this grandma will be in the water. This week starts the BBQ competition season for us .  This weekend will be our first competition and it is right here at home.....yah!  It will make it easier on us gals as we can come home at night, and the GDs can sleep in their own beds too.  Keep your fingers crossed in hopes that it is a good BBQ and we get a place in at least the top ten. Off to

Completed Art Journal

Image
I finally completed a small art journal I made last fall, and have decided to share it with you.  There are too many pages to post them all in one post, so I am going to post one page every Monday morning. I normally use a 9 x 12 mixed media journal, but I had joined a swap that required us to make a journal 5 x 7, and since I had not ever made one I thought I had better practice (at least once......grin)  So here is my "practice" journal and the first finished page.   Thanks for looking, let me know you were here. Happy Mother's Day

Image
Happy Mother's Day! This is an image (cropped for a larger image) from the Milliner Misses plate RRD007  (plate of the month) stamped on a die cut then mounted onto a designer paper from my stash.  I colored the edge of the die cut with a black marker.  The sentiment is from Hero Arts and a ribbon bow was added for a finishing touch. Hope you are all having a "fabulous day"!! Inky Hugs Krisha

Is it a Book or a Card or a Mini album?

Image
THIS IS A VERY PHOTO HEAVY POST   Well, it really it is a mini album.  I made this for my DIL for Mother's Day.  They were here for the family birthday and I knew I wouldn't see her before Mother's Day, so I gave it to her early. This is the cover, I used stickers for her name   I found this on You Tube, the video is 3 yrs old.  This is a multi opening album, to see how it all opens you can check out the video HERE   This took no time at all to put together, but getting the photos the right size and then adding all the elements did take my some TIME. Opens first to these pages Opening the flowers to this Middle photo ( in the last picture) opens to this Middle once again opens to this Left side opens to this right side opens to this The pull out page from the middle of the album back side of  the pull out part, tag has the Mother's Day greetings on it Will DIL #2 get one of these ALSO??
