T stands Tuesday

I'm late for the tea party over at  Altered Book Lover , and almost didn't join them this week.  Time got away from me and I didn't start my post as early as I usually do, but as I went to refresh my coffee I grabbed my camera and took a drink photo, came back to my craft space .......and well, here I am. Yesterday I started not one, but two paintings for my GD Hannah.  She had picked these two off Pinterest.....she is in the process of changing her room into more of a beach type decor, you can see the print outs of what they should look like when I'm finished. That is as far as I got before the tile contractor came to give me a bid on the flooring of our...yet to be built house. Since he just lives down the street, he dropped by on his way to work.  Then Hubby came home and we went to see a general contractor to get a bid from him.  I sure hope he isn't outrageous on his quote, we both really liked him and he has built with ICF blocks befor...

Shopping Divas

Art Journal Journey  still has the Out and About challenge going.......all the way to the end of the month. This month it is Yvonne (  Meggys Way ) who chose the challenge, and it has caused quite a stir of creativity....but you have to check it out to see what I mean. Today I am sharing my latest journal page.......guess I was day dreaming about shopping.  It is mostly acrylic paint, the background being a mop-up from finger painting flowers.  The image of the shoppers is from Art Impressions......I thought they were Park Avenue worthy. The highlights on the Park Avenue are  a metallic gold, but scanners just don't like to show anything shiny. :(( The weather has turned nice here, getting a little warm in the afternoons, but settling down to cool evenings and nights.  The kind of weather where you sleep with the windows open.....LOVE IT!  Although the temps nearly hit 90' (F) this week.....not Quite ready for THAT yet!  They are predi...

Image
Art Journal Journey  started the challenge for March with  Yvonne  as hostess for Out and About. I am finding this challenge to be a lot of fun.  Just imagine going out and about and what you might do or see. Since we are having our second day, in a row, of sunshine, even though it is still a bit chilly out there my mind has gone out and about ,wondering west to the beach Just a quick acrylic painting over a mop up page, you can see around the edges and even spot here and there of the under painting. Thanks for stopping by!

AJJ Light and Darkness

I was still in the creative mood, yesterday, when I saw this saying and thought it would be a good one to use for the  Art Journal Journey challenge . It is all acrylic paint with black sharpie lettering, and a Washi tape boarder. Do you create first...then add a saying or sentiment? OR Does a saying or sentiment inspire you to make the art? Kind of like what came first the chicken or the egg.......LOL! Thanks for stopping by. Inky Hugs Krisha

Mixed Media Canvas.....tutorial

Image
Abstract and mixed media art is not for everybody, but it is a deep passion of mine. I decided I did not like the painting on this canvas, so I repainted it one evening, got up the next morning and HATED what I had done............what to do, what to do?     So I took all the left over acrylic paint and just wiped it over the painting!! Since the painting, underneath, had some thick paint in areas it developed some texture................texture is always good! Taking away the harsh brush strokes.......   ......an other layer of thinned down paint.........   .......pretty satisfied with the background colors, and once it was thoroughly dried,  I added some gold leafing here and there...........   ..........again letting it get really dry, I began the nest step.  Using a VERY diluted white acrylic paint, I brushed it over the WHOLE canvas, then quickly laid plastic bags over it and crunched them.  This ...
