Image
Hello Bloggers, we are off on the start of a new week.  Last week  Art Journal Journey  started the challenge for March with  Yvonne  as hostess for Out and About. There are already quite a few entries to see. This is one I did at the end of last week, but just didn't get it posted :(( "She steps out and about dressed in her strength and dignity" Paint, stencils, ink, stamps and collage pieces for the background. Prima Doll stamp, then painting over the background.......marker for all the lettering.

AJJ's NEW Challenge

Image
Hello everybody!  Around here ( so. CA) March is sneaking in like a lamb, all sun shine and mild temperatures...........now we will wait and see how it exits........hopefully not like a lion! With a new month starting an new challenge is up over at  Art Journal Journey  .  This month Yvonne, from  Meggys Way  is our hostess and she chose "OUT AND ABOUT" With the mid weather, and sunshine my flowers bulbs are sprouting and starting to bloom, so I tend to go out and keep an eye on them everyday. With that in mind I created this page. I used my large journal 9" X 12" for my first entree, lots of mixed media going on with acrylic paint, Gelatos, stamps and inks.  The flowers and leaves started as news print cut out.  The sentiment is one I found on Pinterest and thought it was perfect for the Out and About challenge.  Thanks for stopping by.

One Last AJJ Entry for 2016

Image
Only a scant few days left in the  Art Journal Journey challenge: Light and Darkness  , so this will be my last entry for this challenge. It has been a very interesting challenge, and if you haven't been over to their blog, NOW would be a great time to go and take a look at all the interpretations of Light and Darkness.  I would give you a few examples.....................but that would spoil it!  This started as an old "mop-up" page of acrylic paint. Tinkerbell is a stamped image I just colored it all black.  The rest is a combination of just about everything on my desk...LOL!.......or maybe it was just an excuse to try out some paint pens I bought "on sale" while Christmas shopping! So Happy New Year to all the AJJ crowd, looking forward to all the great challenges you have up your sleeves for 2017!! check out the challenge HERE

Music and Dancing

Hello Blogging Friends......what a fine day this is!    I have been working on a two page layout in one of my smaller journals and finally finished it last night. I have really been enjoying the theme over at Art Journal Journey this month......No faces, No wings and No leaves.....But COLLAGE. I found the pattern for the ballerina feet over at The Art Sherpa Website On the right side of her page there are a number of patterns she offers for free.  I printed it out and transferred it onto watercolor paper.  I chose Inktense Watercolor pencil to color it in.....then a good coat of sealer........then trimmed it out. The background started as a mop-up page of paint, from there I went in many directions....Gesso, Gelatos, Pitt pens, Spectrum Noir pens, Washi tape and more paint..........always more paint...LOL!  Once I had the background and the boarder pretty much the way I wanted it I added the ballerina feet and painted in the sentiment. Thi...

A New Art Journal

Image
Welcome blogging friends! Gosh, can you believe we nearing the end of the first week of November and that Thanksgiving is only 21 DAYS away?? GASP!!!   Art Journal Journey has a new challenge for November......NO FACES, NO WINGS, NO LEAVES but COLLAGE Susi's choice this month.....isn't she a clever one? No faces, no wings, no leaves.....Making us step out of our comfort zones....Bravo Susi! I decided to break out a new journal that has been sitting on the shelf....from back when Michael's had a super sale on them......buy one get two free..........I mean, really would you have passed that sale up??   I chose to use a paper weave for the background, this is an old scrapbooking technique, but was just brought back to my attention when I joined up with The Inspiration Place.       Speaking of Michael's Craft Store........ I dashed in there yesterday to pick up some white alcohol ink and walked by one of those isle bins that h...

AJJ Back to School

Image
There always seems to be one teacher that stands out in your school memories......not all are your favorites, but they stay in your memories regardless.  I have two, from grade school that I've carried with me for years, one I loved and the other......well, she and I didn't really like each other, as I remember it....LOL!  The one teacher, that I have fondest memories of, was brought to mind while visiting some of my blog  friends' AJJ-Back to School  challenge pages.  Her name was Mrs. Moen and there are many reasons why she was my favorite, besides just being a darn good teacher.  She was my 4th and 5th grade teacher and she always read to the class 30 minutes everyday, and the books could be of our choosing.  We heard wonderful stories, of course we had to behave ourselves to have the honor of being read to.  She was strict, but always fair and always positive. She was also a neighbor, living on the next block down from us, ...

AJJ Back to School

Image
The AJJ (Art Journal Journey)  challenge, this month, is "Back to School" which was chosen by Elizabeth the Altered Book Lover and her co-pilot Bluebeard.    I was putting things away and as I grabbed my journal it just flew open to a new page and said "Begin NOW!  Oooooookay, I reached for a little blue Memento ink pad and swiped it across the page, then an ocher colored one.  Some stamps came into play, then stencils were used along with some Stazon ink........now what???  All I could think was "When is recess and what time is lunch?" Standard questions for the first day of grade school don't cha think? So I wrote them in with a marker and put a red boarder around them. I did use a piece of chalk duct tape and a white Gel pen at the top, in remembrance of the "old" chalk boards we used to have in school. DONE!.........and journal is now resting in it's proper place *grin*   Have a great weekend, hope it is full...

Without words..a Journey of Layers

Image
VERY PHOTO HEAVY     A double page layout, finished and ready for words......But what to use??  I have many sentiments and sayings that come to me when I look at these pages.  I just can't land on one that I REALLY want to put here......so, for now, it is without words.   Here is the journey of layers, with unedited photos......and no cropping....so you can see what I've been using as mediums.  Click the images for a closer look.             The final layer is a thin coat of white acrylic paint, applied with my fingers and then using an almost dry wipe to pull the stripes and mute other areas. Sometimes it takes many layers to get it where you want it to be.......just like life....but without words. What do these pages suggest to you?   Inky Hugs Krisha A tip:  When wanting to use a baby wipe, and it is too wet......squeeze it in...

Large Daisies in My Journal

Image
Last Friday  Helen Allen  had posted at video, on her blog, using many Faber Castell products.  Her video was the inspiration for this journal page.   There are layers of Gesso, Gelatos, napkins, doilies, ink and paint. I'm not crazy about the top doily covering the top daisy, but it is what it is....*grin*  It was still a very fun page to do, and she did inspire me to use more than just one or two mediums........Thanks Helen!    Thanks for stopping by.... Inky Hugs Krisha

More Mixed Media Journaling

Image
Butterflies and Blooms is this month's challenge at The Mixed Media Monthly Challenge.   This journal page has many, many layers of napkins, mulberry paper, paint, and ink.....stamped images and hand painted images....OH MY!!  What fun I had getting it all on this page, especially applying layers of paint with my fingers......oh yes, that child still resides somewhere inside me *grin*    I had watched a couple of art journaling videos on You Tube and just took techniques from here and there...so I'm not going to give out the links.....way to many to go and search for again.....BUT there are some really wonderful videos on art journaling out there......and I do follow many of the artist that also have blogs. So here is the challenge info:   /mixed-media-monthly-challenge-24.   Of course there is great eye candy to be held.....if all you want to do is LOOK.....BUT be warned....the inspiration you find there will kick your MOJO into high...

Booms and Butterflies

Image
I have been MIA, from my blog, for a couple of weeks.....sometimes LIFE just gets out of hand.....and I won't tell you an untruth, there have been days of just LAZINESS!! LOL!   I have been working in some of my journals (during the lazy days.....just too lazy to scan, edit and post)   This page was made for a couple of challenges (listed below) It was a fun page to make because I  used different techniques and mediums.   The first layer was Gesso with ink added to tin the background.  I used a daisy stencil and embossing ink for the background daisies, then pink and white embossing powder.  The other flowers were embossed with white EP, then the color was inked in and fussy cut.  The butterflies followed the same process.  Once everything was glued down I used a couple of leaf stems and added the greenery.  Around the edges of the page with some distressed ink for some aging and I was finished. ...
