Birthday Fish

Image
This rainbow fish is full of birthday wishes for our grandson, who has been going fishing with his dad on the weekends.  He will be 4 years old next week, and loves to fish!! The fish is really a fun watercolor technique, and I did it last summer with the GDs and we loved doing it.  I found it on  You Tube , it's a painting for kids.......that would be me....LOL!  In short, it is very wet watercolor and blowing through a drinking straw.  The black is a sharpie.  I did use a good watercolor paper and then a glossy finish over the top. Here is the inside, background paper was made the same way as the fish, all the letters were cut with the CriCut.    When I'm finished here I will get it signed and popped into the mail.

Hats and Headgear.....a TAG

Image
I decided to join week two of  the  Tag Tuesday challenge : Hats and Headgear, after all I do love hats, and own quite a few....*grin*  I chose an other Rogue Redhead Designs stamped image.  I used ink to watercolor the image, only using a dark gray.  The red feather and lips are done with a sharpie, then fussy cut her out and used a thick pop dot to mount her onto the die cut oval.  The feathers are die cut and a few black gems to hold them down......the rest are scraps form the scrap pile, and a strip of Washi tape. Sentiment is by Dylusions ...I believe. Thanks for stopping by!

Hello NBUS #10

Image
Hostess; Darnell    Darnell  has been running her famous NBUS challenges for three weeks now.  This is the last one and what a twist she through in this week........bubble wrap.....HA! She can be a shifty character when Hammy is out and about.......but I digress (somewhat) For this NBUS challenge I chose a NBUS bicycle die that my friend Patty (one of my Paint Pals) gave to me a couple weeks ago.  I cut it out in a mirrored fuchsia card stock and used a black alcohol marker to paint the tires and seat.  The background is markers smeared on an acrylic block, spritzed with water, then smashed onto the die cut frame. ( I love this technique for backgrounds).  I inked up some small bubble wrap and gave the bike a path to ride on.  I thought the basket needed some flowers, so I found some NBUS tiny flower and leaf stamps .......I was wondering what I was going to use such a small flower stamp for......... *grin* All are mounted on a bl...

Dreaming of the Sea Shore

Image
Stepping away from all the autumn colors and challenges, my Mojo brought me to the sea shore. This is from a fairly new set of Inkadinkado stamps.....it is just one stamp from the set, but it's a beauty!  I simply colored it in a watercolor style and added a black frame.  The sentiment is from Stampendous with a black frame. Thanks for stopping by..... Inky Hugs Krisha

The Perrrrrrrfect Pair

Image
I have a friend who is an extreme cat lover and she bought this stamp because she also owns a red Vespa.  Her and I got together this past week, bringing our Art Impression Stamps together and stamped each other's images......so this card is for Patty....LOL! The image is Mad Rider  and it makes me smile, Patty and her cat are a "pair" for sure! One more entry for: Art Impressions     Inky Hugs Krisha

Fall Post Card

Image
Yikes! My second post today!  I'm back with the fall and pumpkin theme   *grin* I created this post card for my bloggy buddy Deb and it is safe to post now because she already has the PC.  We have been exchanging post cards for well over a year now and it is so much fun to get the ones she makes in the mail. This is a 5x7 inch post card, I swiped the background with a damp brush loaded with ink.  There are only three stamps used and a whole lot of masking to create this. It was stamped with StazOn black ink and the colored in with the ink watercolor technique that I have fallen in love with.  A little pen work at the bottom and it was ready to go. I think it just fits the "Pumpkin Time" challenge over at Double D Challenges Pumpkin Time challenge    isn't that a gorgeous header?? Two posts today and most likely none tomorrow, my friend Patty is coming over for a craft, stamp and paint day.........so stay tuned for photos, it is sure ...

W/C birthday card

Image
Here we are smack in the middle of the week....and it's a great day to be alive!    I am taking a little break from all the fall and Halloween themed cards today, not that I'm tired of making them.....*grin*     I have had this card on the back burner....so to speak, waiting for a new challenge blog to start up.....more about that later. This hydrangea image is from a stamp and die set made by Stampendous.  I chose to just use the stamp for this card. To stamp the image I used a light Lilac marker to color the stamp then went back and used the marker inks for water colors....applied with a brush. Green inks were used for the background wash.......but the flowers didn't stand out very well, so I took a black marker and sketched around the flowers.  Mounting it on the black cs really made them pop and I fell in love with it! Doesn't it feel good when that happens??   Now about that new challenge blog.  It is called  The Flowe...

Fall Colors

Image
Happy Labor Day....to those in the USA.........somehow that always marks the beginning of fall to me.  I think it is because when I was school age ( a loooong time ago) we didn't start school until the day after Labor Day.  My, how things have changed.   Over at the Art Impressions Blog  they have a new challenge, it is "water color stamping" and they have just launched some NEW water coloring images........sadly I don't own any of them...."gasp!" BUT I do have this fence image, of theirs, that I have had for ions.  I decided to dig it out of retirement and use it, along with images from Hero Arts, A Country Welcome and some tiny ones from Docrafts.   I love this technique, check out their videos on the challenge page , you will be amazed at what can be achieved with a stamp and damp paint brush. (no I'm not affiliated with this company.....just love their stamps)   Today is a "kick-back" kind of day for us.  DH is clean...

Breath in Deeply.........

Image
Breath in deeply and breath out slowly......the weekend is nearly here!!   This is an other great stamp set from Stampendous that I have been playing with.  Yes, I know the chair looks all cattywampous, but it is the angle I took the photo.......honest!!!   I chose to put the marker to the stamp again, then blend and add some shading.  I am really liking NOT having the black outline on the images.  Makes more of a water color painting style....LOVE it! The inside of the card reads..." Fine a few moments to just sit back......rest your eyes".    I'm ready to hit the beach, dig my toes into the sand, sit and rest my eyes........how about you? But, in reality........the weather can't make up it's mind yet.........our Easter celebration is this weekend.....I need to get a place ready to plant some veggies..........the front flower beds desperately need attention...............and the house needs a good "spring" cleaning.....LOL!...

Roses on Wednesday

Image
Well, here it is "hump day", middle of the week and supposed to be down hill from here to the weekend.  Up hill, down hill......the weeks are just flashing by, with no intention of slowing down!   I have been enjoying this stamp and die set from Stampendous.  The images.....one is the flowers and the other is the mason jar....can be stamped and cut from snippets that are just begging to be used...*grin*  I used marker to stamp to create the image and then marker and water to blend it all in.....doing away with the black outline and the color book look.   Once it was dry and die cut I added it to an embossed, die cut piece ( which the GDs were all to happy to make me a pile of).  To pull it "off" the white card base a piece of designer paper was used.    There are two fantastic challenges that I am going to enter this card in.   Hiding in My Craft Room #243     Pixie's Craft Workshop #221 ...
