T stands Tuesday

Image
I'm late for the tea party over at  Altered Book Lover , and almost didn't join them this week.  Time got away from me and I didn't start my post as early as I usually do, but as I went to refresh my coffee I grabbed my camera and took a drink photo, came back to my craft space .......and well, here I am. Yesterday I started not one, but two paintings for my GD Hannah.  She had picked these two off Pinterest.....she is in the process of changing her room into more of a beach type decor, you can see the print outs of what they should look like when I'm finished. That is as far as I got before the tile contractor came to give me a bid on the flooring of our...yet to be built house. Since he just lives down the street, he dropped by on his way to work.  Then Hubby came home and we went to see a general contractor to get a bid from him.  I sure hope he isn't outrageous on his quote, we both really liked him and he has built with ICF blocks before........

Shopping Divas

Art Journal Journey  still has the Out and About challenge going.......all the way to the end of the month. This month it is Yvonne (  Meggys Way ) who chose the challenge, and it has caused quite a stir of creativity....but you have to check it out to see what I mean. Today I am sharing my latest journal page.......guess I was day dreaming about shopping.  It is mostly acrylic paint, the background being a mop-up from finger painting flowers.  The image of the shoppers is from Art Impressions......I thought they were Park Avenue worthy. The highlights on the Park Avenue are  a metallic gold, but scanners just don't like to show anything shiny. :(( The weather has turned nice here, getting a little warm in the afternoons, but settling down to cool evenings and nights.  The kind of weather where you sleep with the windows open.....LOVE IT!  Although the temps nearly hit 90' (F) this week.....not Quite ready for THAT yet!  They are predicting cooler temps and possible

Birthday Fish

Image
This rainbow fish is full of birthday wishes for our grandson, who has been going fishing with his dad on the weekends.  He will be 4 years old next week, and loves to fish!! The fish is really a fun watercolor technique, and I did it last summer with the GDs and we loved doing it.  I found it on  You Tube , it's a painting for kids.......that would be me....LOL!  In short, it is very wet watercolor and blowing through a drinking straw.  The black is a sharpie.  I did use a good watercolor paper and then a glossy finish over the top. Here is the inside, background paper was made the same way as the fish, all the letters were cut with the CriCut.    When I'm finished here I will get it signed and popped into the mail.

Hats and Headgear.....a TAG

Image
I decided to join week two of  the  Tag Tuesday challenge : Hats and Headgear, after all I do love hats, and own quite a few....*grin*  I chose an other Rogue Redhead Designs stamped image.  I used ink to watercolor the image, only using a dark gray.  The red feather and lips are done with a sharpie, then fussy cut her out and used a thick pop dot to mount her onto the die cut oval.  The feathers are die cut and a few black gems to hold them down......the rest are scraps form the scrap pile, and a strip of Washi tape. Sentiment is by Dylusions ...I believe. Thanks for stopping by!

T-day and Other Things

Image
Welcome back for an other  T-day  post.  Grab a cup of coffee, tea, soda, or a great bottle of water and then we'll begin!! I do want to take a moment and thank everybody who drops by weekly and to all of you that are here for the first time.  If you are dropping by for the first time, this post is part of a great group of people, that I just call the T-gang.  We gather at the  Altered Book Lover's Blog  and share our drink and food related posts and what ever else we want to share. All riiighttttyyyyyy.....here is my opening photo.......  This is what I have already accomplished this morning ( and it's only Monday *grin*).  I took this just before grabbing that cup for a refill.....coffee.....black!  My watercolor fish are being auditioned for my grandson's birthday card.  Now on to the "other things"  It's long and rather wordy from here....but you can skip to the bottom if you wish. THEN THERE WAS FINGER PAINTING Two of my

Tag Tuesday Hats and Headgear.

OMGosh! A fourth post from me in the SAME week!  Now pick yourself up off the floor and dust yourself off......the floor in my craft room hasn't been cleaned for some time....so there is bound to be bits and pieces of paper stuck to your behind. I have been seeing some absolutely fantastic tags floating around Blogland, and most have been linked to  Tag Tuesday .  I do love to make tags, it gives me a break from art journaling and making cards, but I've never really know what to do with them afterwards.  Then an idea sprang hit me....BOOM!....I could use them for the flip pages of my journal/diary if I made then 4" x 8".....and so the story has begun! My I present my first tag, that will become part of my JD.   (Sorry about the blur at the bottom, I didn't close the scanner top) Lots of mixed media for the background, the stamp, from Rogue Redhead Designs, was stamped on an die cut oval....that I found crammed into a catch-all.  I did my fav. wa

AJJ Beach bound

Image
Art Journal Journey  started the challenge for March with  Yvonne  as hostess for Out and About. I am finding this challenge to be a lot of fun.  Just imagine going out and about and what you might do or see. Since we are having our second day, in a row, of sunshine, even though it is still a bit chilly out there my mind has gone out and about ,wondering west to the beach Just a quick acrylic painting over a mop up page, you can see around the edges and even spot here and there of the under painting. Thanks for stopping by!

Prima Doll stamp, then painting over the background.......marker for all the lettering.

T Stands for The Shop Cafe

Image
We are starting the week with bright sunshine, and after a cold and rainy weekend.....it feels good!  It looks like "spring" is really contemplating showing up this year.....shortly I hope. ~THIS WEEK FOR  T-DAY ~ This has been an other busy week, but not as busy as last week.....thank goodness.  Wednesday night was the first, of Wednesday nights, that our friends and owners of The Shop Cafe, held a Basque style dinner.  They are usually open for breakfast and lunch, closing about 1:00 P.M. Since this is a new endeavor, I went for dinner, and friendly support.  Doors opened at 6 P.M. and dinner was served at 6:30 P.M. You might want to get a fresh cup of whatever your drinking before we start........just saying..... I made sure to get there early so there would be enough light to take some photos.......YES, I remembered my camera......and to use it....LOL! This building has been a number of different eateries, but Mark has been here the longest, and has s
