T stands Tuesday

 T stands for Tuesday
I'm late for the tea party over at Altered Book Lover, and almost didn't join them this week.  Time got away from me and I didn't start my post as early as I usually do, but as I went to refresh my coffee I grabbed my camera and took a drink photo, came back to my craft space .......and well, here I am.

Yesterday I started not one, but two paintings for my GD Hannah.  She had picked these two off Pinterest.....she is in the process of changing her room into more of a beach type decor, you can see the print outs of what they should look like when I'm finished. That is as far as I got before the tile contractor came to give me a bid on the flooring of our...yet to be built house. Since he just lives down the street, he dropped by on his way to work.  Then Hubby came home and we went to see a general contractor to get a bid from him.  I sure hope he isn't outrageous on his quote, we both really liked him and he has built with ICF blocks before.............but we aren't made of money, even though we have been saving for a long time.  But I have faith, and can't fret over these things, It will either happen or it won't.

The drawing of the crown of thorns I did while watching TV with Hubby last night.  I drew, and shaded it with pencil first, then went over it with Inktense watercolor pencil and a damp brush.  Easter has been on my mind......I know it's early, but it will be here in no time!!

While waiting for the paintings to dry (the sky parts) I was fooling around and made a logo for our Paint Pal group........still some finishing touches to do, then I'll scan it, and add Paint Pals words with Print Shop.  If the girls like it, I'll make it into a transfer for some shirts.

Three daily journal/diary, my planner, and my Journal Bible.  I try to attend to all three of these early, every morning.  I just started with a planner, since I completely forgot to meet with friends for lunch one day, and now all these appointments with contractors.......sheeesh!  I'm getting to the point that if I don't write it down, I'd forget to brush my teeth....LOL!!!

I just discovered Bible way of Pinetrest.  It has been around for a number of years, and began in the UK, as is my understanding.  It makes for great devotional time and I get to mix all kinds of art with it.........what more could one ask for???  If anyone is interested in learning more about this let me know and I'll send you some links.

That's about it from here, my cup has just been re-filled, again......these large mugs are great but the coffee is cold about half way through, so I just keep adding hot to it.  Laundry is started, Hubby is not working this morning, so it feels like Saturday instead of Tuesday.

Tomorrow I'm meeting the Paint Pals for lunch and a movie.  We have one theater that has a seniors day and only costs $4.00 (US) to get in and the lunch spot has a $5.00 (US) lunch special.  I HOPE to remember to take some photos.  We are going to see Beauty and the Beast and see what the hullabaloo is all about, before we take any of our grandchildren to see it.  Two weeks ago we went to see The Shack, and were amazed that there was so much controversy, but some churches, about it.  We ALL LOVED it!! A couple of us had read the book years ago.

Then Thursday the Paint Pals will be it is stacking up to be a busy week.

Shopping Divas

Art Journal Journey still has the Out and About challenge going.......all the way to the end of the month. This month it is Yvonne ( Meggys Way) who chose the challenge, and it has caused quite a stir of creativity....but you have to check it out to see what I mean.

Today I am sharing my latest journal page.......guess I was day dreaming about shopping.  It is mostly acrylic paint, the background being a mop-up from finger painting flowers.  The image of the shoppers is from Art Impressions......I thought they were Park Avenue worthy. The highlights on the Park Avenue are  a metallic gold, but scanners just don't like to show anything shiny. :((

The weather has turned nice here, getting a little warm in the afternoons, but settling down to cool evenings and nights.  The kind of weather where you sleep with the windows open.....LOVE IT!  Although the temps nearly hit 90' (F) this week.....not Quite ready for THAT yet!  They are predicting cooler temps and possible rain again next week......March weather is so fickle!

Birthday Fish

This rainbow fish is full of birthday wishes for our grandson, who has been going fishing with his dad on the weekends.  He will be 4 years old next week, and loves to fish!!
The fish is really a fun watercolor technique, and I did it last summer with the GDs and we loved doing it.  I found it on You Tube, it's a painting for kids.......that would be me....LOL!  In short, it is very wet watercolor and blowing through a drinking straw.  The black is a sharpie.  I did use a good watercolor paper and then a glossy finish over the top.

Here is the inside, background paper was made the same way as the fish, all the letters were cut with the CriCut.
When I'm finished here I will get it signed and popped into the mail.

Hats and Headgear.....a TAG

I decided to join week two of  the Tag Tuesday challenge: Hats and Headgear, after all I do love hats, and own quite a few....*grin*
I chose an other Rogue Redhead Designs stamped image.  I used ink to watercolor the image, only using a dark gray.  The red feather and lips are done with a sharpie, then fussy cut her out and used a thick pop dot to mount her onto the die cut oval.  The feathers are die cut and a few black gems to hold them down......the rest are scraps form the scrap pile, and a strip of Washi tape. Sentiment is by Dylusions ...I believe.

Thanks for stopping by!

T-day and Other Things

Welcome back for an other T-day post.  Grab a cup of coffee, tea, soda, or a great bottle of water and then we'll begin!!

I do want to take a moment and thank everybody who drops by weekly and to all of you that are here for the first time.  If you are dropping by for the first time, this post is part of a great group of people, that I just call the T-gang.  We gather at the Altered Book Lover's Blog and share our drink and food related posts and what ever else we want to share.

All is my opening photo.......

This is what I have already accomplished this morning ( and it's only Monday *grin*).  I took this just before grabbing that cup for a!  My watercolor fish are being auditioned for my grandson's birthday card.

Now on to the "other things"  It's long and rather wordy from here....but you can skip to the bottom if you wish.

Two of my Paint Pals came by on Thursday and we decided to let our inner children out to play.  We watched, and painted with a video: finger painting with Jane, on You Tube.  Notice all the large cups?  We had just gotten back from The Shop Cafe for lunch, while our backgrounds dried.......that turned out to be a two hour much talking and laughing!! No photos....we were too busy...*grin*  Cheryl, our other PP was at a very important meeting and had to miss this, but I assured her that we would catch her up on an other day.
These two really got into it....there inner children look so serious!
I had taped watercolor paper to some old canvases, but we were using acrylic paint.

Patty, using the two finger method.....*grin*

Lea is working her yellow flowers with just one finger.

This is mine

A couple of proud Paint Pals.

Jumping forward..........It is now late Monday night and I am just getting back to finishing this post.  What a day, Hubby came in early from a truck run so we could meet with a contractor at 11 this morning.  He took us way out in the country to show us a home he is just finishing, that ended up being a two hour tour!!!  The place was HUGE 7,000 sq. feet!!  Two story house on top of a basement, with a garage bigger than the house I'm sitting in right now!! All I could think was "I'm sure glad I don't have to clean this place!" LOL!!! We still have a few more contractors to talk to and get bids from before we even think about starting construction of our new house Hubby and I had a quick late lunch.....sorry no photos.  Then home again so he could go get an other load to deliver tomorrow your almost caught up.......

The cutest post card from Deb our Jinixxxy girl. Thanks Deb, I think it is fantastic!!

Next was this awesome large envelope from Germany.  Yep! it's from Valerie over at Bastelmania blog.
Want to see what was in it???????

I pull out this large white plastic bag.......really a cool looking bag.

Wrapped in some bubble wrap were this luscious handmade paper beads....they are about 2 1/2 inches long..........full of texture and sparkle.

The 12" tall tag!!!! Oh how I wish my camera would have captured this better.  It is just absolutely gorgeous!!!   Metallic golds and copper and glitter!!!!

Here is what things were wrapped in......napkins and a very cool post card.  I just love the cow napkin Valerie!

Okay she didn't stop there...............the crowning jewel was...............

This hand made journal!!!

LOOK at the beautiful texture and colors!!!  It has a pocket on the inside of both covers, and in one cover are two bookmarks.......I was so excited I forgot to get a photo of the insides.......LOL!

I'm not sure what I did to deserve such wonderful gifts but THANK YOU VALERIE and THANK YOU DEB for the great post card.

I made a tag last week and decided to attach it to my JD as a flap.  I removed the flap I had original put on this page, then used the same paints and ink to make it go with the tag.

Well, I'm starting to have trouble keeping my eyes open....there was more I was going to share until I got all the Happy Mail......but it will all save for an other day.......yawn!

I hope all our friends on the northern east coast are staying safe and warm to night as that huge snow storm is passing through to night.  We hear predictions of 12-24 inches of snow.  Now I do feel bad that it will be almost 90' (F) here tomorrow.........yawn!

That's it for me ( yawn)......time to link up with the T-gang at Elizabeth's blog.
I'll make rounds in the morning with a fresh cup of coffee.....
Nite all!

Tag Tuesday Hats and Headgear.

OMGosh! A fourth post from me in the SAME week!  Now pick yourself up off the floor and dust yourself off......the floor in my craft room hasn't been cleaned for some there is bound to be bits and pieces of paper stuck to your behind.

I have been seeing some absolutely fantastic tags floating around Blogland, and most have been linked to Tag Tuesday.  I do love to make tags, it gives me a break from art journaling and making cards, but I've never really know what to do with them afterwards.  Then an idea sprang hit me....BOOM!....I could use them for the flip pages of my journal/diary if I made then 4" x 8".....and so the story has begun!

My I present my first tag, that will become part of my JD.
(Sorry about the blur at the bottom, I didn't close the scanner top)

Lots of mixed media for the background, the stamp, from Rogue Redhead Designs, was stamped on an die cut oval....that I found crammed into a catch-all.  I did my fav. watercolor technique to color it.  The yellow flowers were some cast-off leftovers and the sentiment was PC generated.

Now that I've been hit with this idea I will be making more tags and hopefully be joining more tag challenges, but for today it will be linked to Tag Tuesday's Hats and Headgear challenge.

Tag Tuesday Blog button

Now I'm off to get errands done, and later meet my friends for a movie and ice cream afterwards!!
Have a great day!!

AJJ Beach bound

Art Journal Journey

Art Journal Journey started the challenge for March with Yvonne as hostess for Out and About.
I am finding this challenge to be a lot of fun.  Just imagine going out and about and what you might do or see.

Since we are having our second day, in a row, of sunshine, even though it is still a bit chilly out there my mind has gone out and about ,wondering west to the beach
Just a quick acrylic painting over a mop up page, you can see around the edges and even spot here and there of the under painting.

Thanks for stopping by!

AJJ Out and About

Art Journal Journey

Hello Bloggers, we are off on the start of a new week.  Last week Art Journal Journey started the challenge for March with Yvonne as hostess for Out and About.
There are already quite a few entries to see.

This is one I did at the end of last week, but just didn't get it posted :((
"She steps out and about dressed in her strength and dignity"

Paint, stencils, ink, stamps and collage pieces for the background. Prima Doll stamp, then painting over the background.......marker for all the lettering.

T Stands for The Shop Cafe

We are starting the week with bright sunshine, and after a cold and rainy feels good!  It looks like "spring" is really contemplating showing up this year.....shortly I hope.
This has been an other busy week, but not as busy as last week.....thank goodness.  Wednesday night was the first, of Wednesday nights, that our friends and owners of The Shop Cafe, held a Basque style dinner.  They are usually open for breakfast and lunch, closing about 1:00 P.M. Since this is a new endeavor, I went for dinner, and friendly support.  Doors opened at 6 P.M. and dinner was served at 6:30 P.M.
You might want to get a fresh cup of whatever your drinking before we start........just saying.....

I made sure to get there early so there would be enough light to take some photos.......YES, I remembered my camera......and to use it....LOL!

This building has been a number of different eateries, but Mark has been here the longest, and has served the best food.

The sandwich board out by the road.  Tammy......the manager, keeps this updated every morning.

This place is right off the freeway, you can see the cars on the exit.  If you take the road (Lerdo Highway) straight over the overpass for about 5 miles.......well, that's where I live.

Mark had the fire lit by the time I got there.

Tammy, the manager....and good friend, being her goofy self.

Inside the family style tables were set up very nicely. It really isn't a very big place.

Large chalkboards listing the menu.  I thought the price was a little steep.......until the food came, and came, and came.

Tammy and the kitchen chief

My friends, AKA my DIL's sister Virginia and family.  My Hubby was on a truck run, so they invited me to join them.

Maddie showing off the kids menu.  Since they are very best friends of Tammy's I doubt they paid that price per kid.
Ken said he would pay for my dinner, if I brought the wine.  No brianer there! Virginia is having iced tea.....and there was also water all down the table.

Tammy took a quick break, between coarses , to come sit for a second and visit.........

Then the food started coming.......steaks the size of half a cow......cooked to perfection, out on the fire pit.  Ken LOVES his steak!! LOL!

grilled sword fish and rice pilaf ...........oh yummmmm this was the best sword fish I've had in years.

Now, it's not very nice to get one's picture taken with a mouth full of food......but Virginia only said "Let me get a picture of THAT squash,"  As you can see there was also pasta and fries. ( ended up not eating the fries)......but BEFORE all this arrived, we were served cabbage soup, pinto beans, salsa and bread.....then came the salad, a platter of thick sliced tomatoes with dressing and pickled tong.  By now my stomach is about to explode.......but, there was still one more coarse..........

....................Bananas Foster, what a wonderful and sinful thing at the same time!  Needless to say I
there was no way I could have eaten that on top of everything else.....but I did take a couple of bites.

As I stated earlier, I thought the price was high, but I also have lunch, with my woman's' group, at a Basque restaurant and pay $20.00 (USD), for lunch, and we get ONE entree.....always chicken, and no pickled tong and not nearly the side dishes we had Wednesday night.  So I have to give The Shop Cafe a HIGH FIVE for the best food!   Will I go this Wednesday night??? Oh you bet......but there will be a few side dishes I'll have to skip so I can have desert....LOL!

Do YOU have a drink and/or food post?  You should come and join us at Altered Book Lover.  We love having new people join us for T-day

Time for some springtime colors don't you think??

Sticker dates.....made with a date stamp and labels......then some fun with some stamps.

Well, that's a wrap!!!
Happy T-day!!
