Reflections of Autumn

Image
The  Art Journal Journey  challenge, for the month of October, is right at end.......with a woosh the month has flown by.  I am just getting this entered under the wire. The background, of this journal page was a mash of scraps, then painted over with acrylic.  My inspiration for this was this mood board from Mixed Media Monthly ....Yep! I getting in under the wire on this one too....LOL Hope you day is going great and is full of wonderful creativity.  It is Sunday morning here, and we are getting an other shower of rain........smell so fresh outside....mmmmmm! If You Wait Long Enough.......

Image
If you wait long enough, or in my case, just get things half made (grin) the challenges roll around that fit your project....LOL!   I have started making a few Christmas cards......or at least getting some of the components made. This little gold embossed tree has been sitting on Betsy for almost two weeks!  I finally mounted it on some gold glitter paper, added a few rhinestones and got it onto a card base, with a simple sentiment. The black background paper is a glossy cardstock, but getting it photoed was a challenge in it's self.   I adore how this card turned out, and hope to make a few more, but the black glossy cardstock is getting harder to find these days.   Here are the challenges that came along to fit my card...LOL!   PLEASE TAKE A MOMENT TO VISIT THSES CHALLENGES AND SEE THE MAGNIFECENT DT WORK!   Challenge 272: Any Holiday   Challenge 120     Week 386: Sparkle and Shine   Challenge 2: Winter and/or Spring     Inky

Last one to the Party?

Image
Well here it is Tuesday, again, and time to get over to the party Elizabeth throw for the T-gang every week.  I've checked her blog and know that I'm running late, I almost sent my regrets for this week and didn't post. I had so many errands to run yesterday, and by the time I got home I was pooped! So what has kept me hopping this past week? Dentist check-up on that root canal, visit with the architect ...ready to move to the next step on blueprints for the new house, our 43rd anniversary...which we waited till Friday to celebrate...nothing big...just dinner...our GD, Megan went with us and then came back for a sleepover. Saturday her and I went to the Pumpkin Patch, that some friends of ours own.  Plenty of photo ops and things for the kids to do.   The entrance to the hay bale maze.........  Bean bag toss...... One of many photo ops....... Pumpkins for her and Hannah........   Sunday was a decorating meeting for Madeline's (Maddie) birt

The Last Leaf

Image
One more entry for the Art Journal Journey challenge Indian Summer/Golden October/Autumn A mix of Gelatos, inks and markers.  The sentiment reads: One little leaf hangs on to the memory of summer past. I have mixed feeling about this photo, the highlights on tree really stand out in the photo (not so much in real life) and the background is more muted, and the sentiment nearly disappeared. I guess the camera looks at different mediums different than the human eye does. This challenge runs for the month of October so there is still plenty of time to join in the fun. Inky Hugs Krisha

Fill'er Up

Image
Here we go on a new week, #3 for October.....and it is going to be a crazy busy one around here. So with THAT, I thought I'd better get a jump start on a few things tis morning ( already mid-morning here in SOCAL)  My AI card and cup of coffee are for all my T-Gang .... the inside reads "No talky...before coffee"  sounds about right.   We had some rain last night, it was just starting to sprinkle around 11 P.M.  The ground is not soaking wet so it must have been an off and on rain, but the rain drops were still on my gladiolas this morning.  These are a dark red gladiola, but with the bright sun shinning through them they look orange.  Now that we have had a little wind and a nice shower, the air is so clean and the sky is blue....all the harvest dust is now gone.   Update on the bottle tag/cards.  I have managed to get two made of both of these designs.   I also met a lady, Saturday evening, that has a new café and gift shop right outside of

Thursday?......Already??

Well, this week has become a blurr !  I spent Tuesday afternoon at the dentist having a root canal on a tooth he had crowned sometime ago, so that meant removing the crown and doing the root canal, then replacing the crown. UGH!  Two hours later, with half my face still numb, I headed for home.  The tooth is still touchy, but the pain is starting to subside.....this was a tough root canal. That left me feeling a little "off" my usual self yesterday, not really feeling like doing much of anything.....so I just pittled around at my desk and visited around Blogland.     This is where it led me too, and I just got up and left it last night.  I just took these photos and didn't even bother to edit them...I didn't even turn on the Ott lights...LOL!     I decided to do a little re-creating in this journal I made, and have used from time to time.  I usually keep it by the bed and write in it when I feel the need.  Then, yesterday, I visited Monica at Mater

T Stands for A Bunny Lunch

Image
No I didn't have a bunny for lunch.....LOL! I am having my morning coffee ( black as usual) in my new cup I won in the drawing last Friday.    This is the second one I've won *grin*   I belong to a group of women called the Bakersfield Bucket List Bunnies, a group of women (45 an older).  When you join the group you get to make a "bucket" list of 5 things you would like to do....within reason, and it gets put in a plastic egg and thrown into a hopper.  Each month they draw an egg and that bucket list is read and decided on which of the 5 items the group/or individuals want do.  THAT is how I ended up taking golf lesson this summer....it was on Mary's bucket list and I volunteered to join her.  We also have a guest speaker each month.....this month it was on life insurance....a little late for most of us who have been around long enough to know we need it...LOL!   The first Friday of each month we have a luncheon.  The place we were having our lunch

Dreaming of the Sea Shore

Image
Stepping away from all the autumn colors and challenges, my Mojo brought me to the sea shore. This is from a fairly new set of Inkadinkado stamps.....it is just one stamp from the set, but it's a beauty!  I simply colored it in a watercolor style and added a black frame.  The sentiment is from Stampendous with a black frame. Thanks for stopping by..... Inky Hugs Krisha

Falling in Love

Image
The Art Journal Journey challenge, for October is Indian Summer - Golden October - Autumn  and Valerie is the hostess this month.   This page started as a mop-up page of acrylic paint, I had a few left over leaves laying about so I glued them down and used a leaf stencil for the others.....just tracing them in.  While watching a little (or a lot) of TV I doodled on the paper leaves and then some in the background with a black Sharpie and a white Gel pen.....just keeping it a little more on the simple side.   Our tress have yet to start turning color, but the weather is starting to cool down during the day, and getting to the "nippy" temperatures at night.........awwwwwh such great sleeping weather. *grin*   So, I think I've gotten everything caught up...that is finished ....... 3 posts in one day!  I keep saying I am NOT going to create so much before posting.......but do I listen? Apparently not.....LOL! Inky Hugs Krisha

The Perrrrrrrfect Pair

Image
I have a friend who is an extreme cat lover and she bought this stamp because she also owns a red Vespa.  Her and I got together this past week, bringing our Art Impression Stamps together and stamped each other's images......so this card is for Patty....LOL! The image is Mad Rider  and it makes me smile, Patty and her cat are a "pair" for sure! One more entry for: Art Impressions     Inky Hugs Krisha

The Perfect Pair

Ever have that ONE friend that just compliments you to a T?   Today I'm sharing a card that depicts the type of friendship that lasts through the ages.  It is an Art Impressions Chocolate Therapy  image with ink watercolor technique.  I'm also going to enter this card in their challenge enter challenge HERE There are only a few days left in this challenge, so I'm skidding under the wire....but check out all the fantastic DT work....................lots of inspiration over there. Fall Post Card

Image
Yikes! My second post today!  I'm back with the fall and pumpkin theme   *grin* I created this post card for my bloggy buddy Deb and it is safe to post now because she already has the PC.  We have been exchanging post cards for well over a year now and it is so much fun to get the ones she makes in the mail. This is a 5x7 inch post card, I swiped the background with a damp brush loaded with ink.  There are only three stamps used and a whole lot of masking to create this. It was stamped with StazOn black ink and the colored in with the ink watercolor technique that I have fallen in love with.  A little pen work at the bottom and it was ready to go. I think it just fits the "Pumpkin Time" challenge over at Double D Challenges Pumpkin Time challenge    isn't that a gorgeous header?? Two posts today and most likely none tomorrow, my friend Patty is coming over for a craft, stamp and paint day.........so stay tuned for photos, it is sure to be a great day!

W/C birthday card

Image
Here we are smack in the middle of the week....and it's a great day to be alive!    I am taking a little break from all the fall and Halloween themed cards today, not that I'm tired of making them.....*grin*     I have had this card on the back burner....so to speak, waiting for a new challenge blog to start up.....more about that later. This hydrangea image is from a stamp and die set made by Stampendous.  I chose to just use the stamp for this card. To stamp the image I used a light Lilac marker to color the stamp then went back and used the marker inks for water colors....applied with a brush. Green inks were used for the background wash.......but the flowers didn't stand out very well, so I took a black marker and sketched around the flowers.  Mounting it on the black cs really made them pop and I fell in love with it! Doesn't it feel good when that happens??   Now about that new challenge blog.  It is called  The Flower Challenge ......simple eno

The Witch's New Shoes

Image
I've only done a few Halloween cards this year ( so far).  I don't really send out very many, but this one is going to a friend of mine.  The inside reads "chocolate does the rest" and I'll glue in a chocolate candy. The die cuts came from a stamp and die set I bought on clearance last year.   The background is a fun technique that I learned from visiting Karen's Kreative Kards .  She is one of my new followers and is a DIE CUT QUEEN!  OMGosh, she has some fabulous cards on her blog.   The background is created by wrapping foil over card stock, rubbing with ink.....I used Stazon...placing in embossing folder and embossing.  A quick swipe with and embossing pad, then embossing power and heat!  I must warn you....this can quickly become addictive as each one turns out different!! Here is a closer look. Trying to photograph tin foil is tricky to say the least.....it loves to flash back at you!  So I filtered the flash with a coffee filter. N

T Stands for We Won!!

Image
Hello T-gang and anybody else that is happening by.  This weeks drink photo is WATER, and we drank a lot of it over the weekend.   We spent Saturday in Wasco, a small neighboring town, competing in a BBQ Contest.  We, as a cook team, haven't competed since this competition last year.  Just too many grandies doing too many other things to pull everyone together for competitions.   Here is what our cook station looks like.....Ken on the left and our son, Brian on the right.....and back there is the back (without a team shirt) is Bob......my hubby.  This was early in the morning and as the day progressed we did hang a shade along the back, even though the temperature was a mild 77" (F) and there was a nice breeze all day.   For this competition there are only three meat categories.....chicken, pork ribs and beef tri-tip (which seems to be a California cut of beef, as there are many who do not know what this cut is...and I can't explain it...LOL)

Loving the Fall Colors

Image
Spring is a beautiful time of the year, all the flowers beginning to bloom, everything so green............errrrech! Wait!..... lets fast forward to the glory of all the fall colors.....the rich golds, royal reds and beaming oranges........what a delight to the eyes. Truly one of my favorite times of the year.   So I'm kicking off this week with this card full of fall colors (even says so right on the card LOL)  Bits and pieces of things laying on my desk came together here.  The pumpkins are part of one of the color "tests" I shared HERE,  I just die cut a section of one of them.  The leaf was an extra one from yesterdays post......die cut, dusted with ink and embossed.  The sentiment was inked with three Memento inks and then die cut.  I chose a black card base to make the colors pop a little more.   One, two, three......easy as can be!  Sometimes these "easy" cards rattle me as to why some just seem to fall into place and others are such a struggle
