The 2nd Time Around on the 2nd

WOW!  Here we are the 2nd of February, Ground Hog Day and  time to link up with Elizabeth over at Altered Book Lover for a second look at something from the past.  Haven't heard about this event?  Well, it is a new little gathering of some of us that have joined with Elizabeth to show something from the past, on the second day of each month................and this is the second month.  Still wondering what I am talking about??  Then head over to Elizabeth's blog and learn from the creator.....LOL

This month I chose a tag I made in 2001.  I used a number of watch and clock stamps, in black, then Deco Podged a piece of tissue paper that also had watches and clocks on it.  I mounted the tag onto a slightly larger black tag and added some beautiful, fibers at the top.  I remember being so thrilled with the way it turned out that I submitted it to the Somerset Studio magazine.........and they published it!!!  This was back in the day you HAD to mail in your submissions, and if they chose your work they sent you a copy of the magazine it was in.  It was also a time when there were still a lot of rubber stamp images used.  I subscribed to the magazine for a long time, until I just had so many, then the local craft stores started carrying it and I could just pick up a copy when I wanted one.  Talk about OLD SCHOOL eh??
The left is the cover and the right is a photo of the page it was on
Oh yes, I still have the tag and the magazine, and a couple more that I was published in.  But all this was a long time ago, and I don't submit things anymore.

So now that I have tooted my own horn......................................

I want to give a shout out to TWO NEW FRIENDS that have become followers!!!

First up is Mary Ann Potter  and her blog is called The Star Catcher.  She makes the most incredible miniature houses, and her blog is filled with beautiful poetry. Mary Ann is also a wonderful artist and like to play along with groups like SOC and has also been published in Summerset Studios!  Hope you all have a chance to drop by her blog and say hi........and read some of her delicate poems.

Next is Toni Burks-Grijalva and her blog is named Studio Garage Band.  Toni is a columnist for Unruly Paper Arts Blogzine and a fantastic mix media artist.  Her blog is full of DTs she is on and a lot of her accomplishments.....................so much eye candy.  Make sure you take your cup of coffee with you, cause you will be spending some TIME there....LOL

Thanks for stopping by on this busy calendar day, are we going to have 6 more weeks of winter???

Inky Hugs
Krisha

That is a great tag. I didn't know you were published - a belated congratulations. I have a few very old Somerset mags but never a subscriber. More links to follow I see. I'm going to be busy this morning hopping from one to another.

I enjoyed your second look at this nice tag! The layers are really fantastic. Congrats on having it published!

I'm honored to be mentioned here on your blog, Krisha. It's a real blessing. I've already heard from one of your followers today.

I love this tag. I might just post a couple of mine in honor of "Second Time Around"!

We have something other than art in common; I too live in a small rural community. We are 25 miles north of Raleigh, NC, and we live outside the little farm town of Stem. There's an old crossroads called Shoofly near us, too. Dorothea Lange, Depression photographer, actually did a number of photos here back in the 1930's; one of them was taken close to our place. We've been here for four years. We have 56 acres, 3 standard donkeys, a flock of chickens, a dog, and more work than we've ever had while living our dream!

Farm work doesn't take all my time, though. There's always time for art! Sending blessings from here on Windy Hollow Farm!
You are such a good stamper, and I'm very impressed that you were published. I've often wanted to be (in Somerset), but never got the courage. Mainly I think because I don't use main stream products. I DO like that tag. It is so fun and TIMELY (pun intended).

Thank you for sharing this with us for a second look today.

Hi! Let me encourage you to send your work to Somerset Studio. They don't require mainstream products; they look for expressive work! Their submission challenges are so much fun. When I found I'd been published (twice now!), no one was more surprised than I was! It took a friend's encouragement to get me to submit work. I hope you send those nice folks something soon!

Super cool! It's a great tag...
Awesome that you were published so long ago. I hadn't even discovered my artsy side then...I was still trying to plug away at scrapbooking. blech.

How fun is that??? And the tag is still just as gorgeous now as it was then, you gave it so much depth.

Sorry to hear (in the other post) you aren't feeling well, just had to stop by to see if you were woywing this week. Get well soon, my bloggy friend!
