T Stands for The Shop Cafe

We are starting the week with bright sunshine, and after a cold and rainy weekend.....it feels good!  It looks like "spring" is really contemplating showing up this year.....shortly I hope.
~THIS WEEK FOR T-DAY~
This has been an other busy week, but not as busy as last week.....thank goodness.  Wednesday night was the first, of Wednesday nights, that our friends and owners of The Shop Cafe, held a Basque style dinner.  They are usually open for breakfast and lunch, closing about 1:00 P.M. Since this is a new endeavor, I went for dinner, and friendly support.  Doors opened at 6 P.M. and dinner was served at 6:30 P.M.
You might want to get a fresh cup of whatever your drinking before we start........just saying.....

I made sure to get there early so there would be enough light to take some photos.......YES, I remembered my camera......and to use it....LOL!

This building has been a number of different eateries, but Mark has been here the longest, and has served the best food.

The sandwich board out by the road.  Tammy......the manager, keeps this updated every morning.

This place is right off the freeway, you can see the cars on the exit.  If you take the road (Lerdo Highway) straight over the overpass for about 5 miles.......well, that's where I live.

Mark had the fire lit by the time I got there.

Tammy, the manager....and good friend, being her goofy self.

Inside the family style tables were set up very nicely. It really isn't a very big place.

Large chalkboards listing the menu.  I thought the price was a little steep.......until the food came, and came, and came.

Tammy and the kitchen chief

My friends, AKA my DIL's sister Virginia and family.  My Hubby was on a truck run, so they invited me to join them.

Maddie showing off the kids menu.  Since they are very best friends of Tammy's I doubt they paid that price per kid.
Ken said he would pay for my dinner, if I brought the wine.  No brianer there! Virginia is having iced tea.....and there was also water all down the table.

Tammy took a quick break, between coarses , to come sit for a second and visit.........

Then the food started coming.......steaks the size of half a cow......cooked to perfection, out on the fire pit.  Ken LOVES his steak!! LOL!

grilled sword fish and rice pilaf ...........oh yummmmm this was the best sword fish I've had in years.

Now, it's not very nice to get one's picture taken with a mouth full of food......but Virginia only said "Let me get a picture of THAT squash,"  As you can see there was also pasta and fries. ( ended up not eating the fries)......but BEFORE all this arrived, we were served cabbage soup, pinto beans, salsa and bread.....then came the salad, a platter of thick sliced tomatoes with dressing and pickled tong.  By now my stomach is about to explode.......but, there was still one more coarse..........

....................Bananas Foster, what a wonderful and sinful thing at the same time!  Needless to say I
there was no way I could have eaten that on top of everything else.....but I did take a couple of bites.

As I stated earlier, I thought the price was high, but I also have lunch, with my woman's' group, at a Basque restaurant and pay $20.00 (USD), for lunch, and we get ONE entree.....always chicken, and no pickled tong and not nearly the side dishes we had Wednesday night.  So I have to give The Shop Cafe a HIGH FIVE for the best food!   Will I go this Wednesday night??? Oh you bet......but there will be a few side dishes I'll have to skip so I can have desert....LOL!

Do YOU have a drink and/or food post?  You should come and join us at Altered Book Lover.  We love having new people join us for T-day

I have really enjoyed reading your post. That restaurant looks great and the amount of food looked amazing. You mentioned the high cost, but your meals always seem good value compared to prices in the UK.
Your journal/diary pages were lovely, super spring lighter colours.
Happy T day

Oh what a wonderful feast you have enjoyed!! I would love all but the beef thank you:) and I think the price was pretty reasonable for all of that. And Bananas foster-YUM!!! I rarely eat desserts but i would NOT have passed on that:):) Fun journal pages too. Happy T day!
It looks like you not only ate good food but like you had a blast. Not just you but your whole party. :) This is a really fun post Krisha and I think next time you want to feel like it is Thanksgiving again you should go back. :) Happy T day. Hugs-Erika
Wow, that was a HUGE treat, and you are right. The food just kept coming. I was very impressed with everything you had to eat, but there's no way I would have left the bananas foster. I would have loosened my belt until I made room for it (grin).

Your calendar is wonderful, too. I like the colors and stickers and this puts mine to SHAME.

Thanks for sharing your Basque style meal and family time with us for T this week. Also, thanks for sharing your calendar, too.
Wow, what an amazing place to eat :-). The food looks delicious and there is certainly plenty of it, I think I would be full with that big bowl of soup too - yum! Your calendar colours are so soft and I adore the little birds walking across the bottom of the page. Happy T Day! J :-)

I'd like to try this Basque restaurant. We don't have many here north of you. In fact the only Basque eatery I've been to is in Tracy - kind of half way between us.

Your journal pages do have a springtime feel. Spring can't get here soon enough for me.
