Fifty Shades of Red

Art Journal Journey challenge: Fifty Shades of Red started on the first of February and will run the whole month.  Linda, of heARTfully Inspired blog is our hostess this month, and the fifty shades of red was her choice.......and I think it was a really good one for this month.  Think love, Valentines, flowers........oh, and don't forget chocolates!!!

I chose to go with flowers, for my first entry, not that I'm NOT romantic.......but I've been keeping an eye on some of my flower bulbs that have broken through and are growing quickly.  Sadly they are not tulips......I might have to buy some this year.

Okay, so I just gathered up a handful of red implements, Gelato, watercolor pencils, markers and watercolor paint and started, using a baby wipe to blend with.  The flowers were done in watercolor pencil and then blended with a damp paint brush, adding a bit of red watercolor to the bulbs, then splattering red, dark red and white.

Well, that's it for this Friday.........Thanks for stopping by.
Don't forget to visit Art Journal Journey and see some awesome art and ADD yours to the list.

I love your beautiful red tulips and bright background! and spatters - oh yes, makes me very happy:) Thanks for joining in at AJJ Krisha!
Thanks for reminding me to check that I have planting tulip bulbs on my planner for autumn so we get wonderful blooms like the ones on your page in spring next year :-). Your flowers are so pretty and blending the colour so it's lighter behind them makes them pop from the page and the spaltters are a lovely finishing touch too! Happy Friday and wishing you a lovely weekend! J :-)
Gorgeous tulips. This is perfect for the new theme Krisha. This page makes me think spring. I can't wait for it to arrive here in New England. Have a great weekend. Hugs-Erika
Oh wow, Krisha. Those tulips are out of this world. I'm in awe. I love them. You draw SO well.

It was so warm a couple of days last week, I worried that the early spring flowers might try to force their way out of the ground. BUT, then it turned bitterly cold again, so no chance that will happen, now. So glad to see those lovely spring tulips, though. They are delightful.
What a wonderful painting! So atmospheric Krisha! Wonderful that you are with us over at Art Journal Joureny again this month!
Makes me always happy to see your great pages and paintings!
Happy weekend!
