WOWW 172

Well its THAT time of the week again.  Hope you arrived by way of
http://stamping-ground.blogspot.co.uk/, if not, that's OK Welcome to my blog and WOWW, Whats On your Workdesk Wednesday.  The UK starts Wednesday earlier than we in CA, USA so I post on our Tuesday night..........so nuff if this chit chat... on to what you came for.............

So here is what she looks like tonight, a really mish mash of stuff.  I'm still on my cleaning binge and have decided that all the CD cases I just empty ( all 250 of them) will now be used to store my stamps.  So what is here? My label machine, there is front, well used cutting mat,Stamp mount,  and my extra eyes! (yes there is that AGE thing again LOL) Along the back are my lights, since I work in a closet space. A tool caddy, pot of glue bottles, more stamp mounts, a little ATC I made for a challenge some time ago, and just about out of the pic on the right is a little mess basket with this mornings work.....3 of 4 finished ATC for a swap, can't show those for awhile yet.

Stepping back, well now that's the real picture!!! I'm not going to name everything, as most of you have the same supplies that I have.  I really has been like this for 2 days, I just cleaned a small space to work this morning.

So this is how I have stored my stamps for probably the last 10 years.  In envelopes, most are attached to chip board with Velcro, and the images stamped on the front of the envy. I still have
3 1/2 of these boxes to do. Yes there are more than one image to an envy, and Yes I have not like this for almost 10 years, just hadn't decided how I wanted to store them.

This is what I am working on doing with all my stamps.  Monday I did all my clear ones, and today I started with the red rubber stamps.  The envies were 5 X 7 and these cases are 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 but I  in some cases I can actually get more in them.......go figure!!!  This is taking quite awhile to do, since I want them all labeled and sorted, but will be so much easier to read the labels than to flip through the envies, even when I have them grouped.
So Whats on your Workdesk today? Well, I'm off to Julia's to start my peeking about at everyone's work area.  I didn't quite make it to all from last week over 170 joined :o, I think I made about 60!  Tonight I am gong to start at the beginning and then in the morning start at the end and maybe meet in the middle. LOL
Follow me to http://stamping-ground.blogspot.co.uk/ I know the way and your going to love the ride..............................

I think using CD cases is absolutely brilliant! How smart is that? I am going to see if I have some CD cases I can use to organize my stamps! Not that I have as many as you do! Your work place is so exciting as it is soooo full of wonderful things to play with! Patsy

I think both your ideas for storing stamps are great. I can see the bonus of clear cd cases. Good luck doing all the other boxes.

I use CD cases for most of my stamps too, although I ended up splitting out some where I just had to many similar (like swirls) and I wanted to make sure I looked at them ALL before deciding or where there was a set with too many to fit in one CD case (like a couple of Steampunk plates) but over all it works pretty well. Older CD cases are a lot sturdier - the newer ones are sometimes a bit too flimsy!

I think the whole stamp organization thing is just such a pain!

That's one heck of a task you've set yourself Krisha! And how come you just had 250 empty cd cases lying around!!?? I'm just biding my time til October when I'll be on my own for the best part of a month! Lot's of meals are made and in the freezer to make life easier and I'll be shutting myself in the craft room for days on end!!!!

I share you pain in organising stamp collections, I have tried everything (at great cost) I now have all my rubber stamps on specialist stamp storage sheets, filed and tabbed. Others I have in photo organiser pages then filed, but have many not organised yet, love the CD case idea might be worth a thought. Thanks for visiting me

I love the organised look of your workspace. Excellent. An organised space is a great way to get started!
When I first joined WOYWW, about 85 people would play so it was doable to visit everyone. Now... you'd have to really put a lot of time and effort into it. It would be cool though. This week I'm so busy I am only committing to visiting those who visited me (homework, work, and card projects-too much to do, not enough time). Those clear stamps--I'm not so sure what do with them myself. I sort of like your envelope idea since I don't have that many of them. I'm not sure I like the CD idea. I have some stamps in CDs and I often forget I have them. I do remember the stamps in the DVD-sized cases. Go figure. Love seeing the wide shot of your space. LOTS going on.

That's A LOT of cd cases!! Do you think you'll fill them all? I'm curious, once you get everything moved over, how you will organize all your stamps...by company, size, category? Just curious! I have a mish mash of stamps and not quite sure what to do with them all.

Thanks for stopping by, and to answer your question, no...my desk is NEVER that clean! Like I mentioned in the post, since my son was coming for a visit and had never seen the craft room, I wanted it to be perfect when he saw it the first time. I liked the way it looked so much that I kept it that way til it was time to take a pic for WOYWW!!

Fabulous workspace - I'm the same with so much under the desk that my knees have to fight for space! Congratulations on your stamp re-organisation that's under way... sure it will be well worth it once it's done. Belated happy WOYWW!

Hi Krisha,

Oh, I want to have a room just like yours!!!! I have to craft on my dining room table. Luckily you don't see it when you walk into my house!!!

The organization of your stamps looks impressive.

Thanks for visiting me -- I'm sorry I'm just now getting back to you.
