Journal 52 week2 with Gelatos

THIS IS A VERY PHOTO HEAVY  POST
Now that being said, onto my page 2 for the Journal 52 challenge.  This weeks prompt is "Just Be".  It brought to mind the still, quiet time of the mornings when I take my coffee outside (and feed the dog).  It is a time of day (cold or sizzling hot) that I enjoy the most.  It is the time of day I think about my to-do list for that day, meditate, pray and sometimes stand still and.........Just BE.

I started out laying in some Gelato colors, direct to paper......no Gesso, of a sun rise.

With a Baby wipe I blended in the colors (with Gesso it would have just wiped off) This is going to be done a number of times........so hang in there...grin!
It needed some rolling hills, so there was some shadows created, and  adding some clouds.
Once again blending with a BW, and adding some highlights as I went along
Once satisfied (somewhat) I added some modeling paste dots on the corners......gotta have texture!!
Adding some dark green for a background for flowers
Blending again with BW
Adding flowers with a stencil and more modeling paste.
The flowers were too stark white for my taste, so I scribbled a light blue Gelato on the back of a plastic card.  Then with a water brush, diluted it, picked up the color and tinted the flower leaves.   I used a yellow Gelato straight to the centers
A closer look.

I wrote the words on some scrap paper with a black Sharpie, and cut them at odd angles.

The placement of the words.

Added black dots to flower centers and the week number.

And here is the finished page.

A super fun page to create, I love messing with my Gelatos, it is a good change from all the inky messes I tend to make...... AND I also remembered to take pictures as I went along, ...... and the added bonus of a photo of each step......LOL

Thanks for stopping by, please leave a comment so I can return the favor.

Hi Krisha~ Love this! Tell me do you really like the gelatos??? I've been thinking about buying some. I watch the videos by Vicky P on You Tube and she really does some amazing things with hers too. I think she almost always uses gesso under hers and blends them with her finger, sometimes wetting her finger on a baby wipe to help it blend. I'm on the fence about whether or not to purchase some..help me pick a side...LOL! Hugs! deb

You did a great job with your Gelato journal page, Krisha! I can see with each succeeding photo just how much fun and joy you are getting out of the process! Those hills are especially well done! It must be so satisfying to recreate the exact scene of your favorite time of day!! Hugs, Darnell
Holy cow, Krisha. I've never even seen gelatos before, but you did a fantastic job putting this page together. I really enjoyed seeing your progress, too.
