T is for Getting into Shape.....

Time to join the Tea Gang for an other weekly jaunt around the world to find out what's in all the drinking vessels we show off.  Today is a picture from this morning, the coffee cup is empty and the tennies are there waiting for me to put down the camera and put them ON. (My Grandma you have some big feet!!!LOL)

I had just finished my coffee (that's why the cup is empty) and was getting ready to start my walking routine.  I follow Darla's blog, and she is so good about getting her walks in every morning and once a week shares them with those of us in Blogland.  She has been my inspiration to get off my butt and start getting some exercise. I used to have a great walking routine until about 5 years ago, making 4 miles in an hour EVERYDAY, then I started having a foot problem, that eventually lead to surgery and the removal of a joint in one of my toes.....oh yea, that was painful.  Since then I have become very lethargic and the weight has really piled on.  I've tried about every diet out there......nothing really works long term.....but I do know walking works wonders and if I start watching what I eat, and when I eat, the weight will come off.  So I'm putting it all out in Blogland to keep myself accountable......*grin*

So today, the start of my routine, I only walked about 15 minutes, and only covered slightly over a half a mile....:(   When I got home I was a little depressed about the time and distance...but after thinking it over and remembering.....I cheered right up.  After all I'm 10 years older and even 10 years ago I started small and work up my time and speed....so here's to my FIRST day of my daily routine....and thanks Darla!!

The planner, there on Betsy, is a new one I just started after watching Lindsay Weirich Video of a Cheap DIY Planner Tutorial.  I've followed her for years, most know her as the Frugal Crafter.  I have also decided I need to get more organized with my time, so that I get more done around here.......which will also keep me moving...win-win!!

I also have an other journal started, but not far enough to share this week. It is a Secrets Journal and I got the idea from a You Tube Video by Terri Kahns.  The link will take you to the introduction, but there are quite a few videos on making the journal, the pages and......all kinds of goodies to add to the pages.  I think I watched everyone of them.  She made her first one on her weight loss journey, and that is what gave me the idea to make it an exercise/ weight loss journal.  Something just for me...er....wellllll.......I'll share with all of you.......*grin*

So that's it for this week.  The sun has gone down, and the heat is starting to dissipate, DH hasn't come in yet.......so I think I'll put those tennis back on and go for an other short walk, before it gets too dark.

Keep walking! I have a little pedometer, and I make myself do at least 10000 steps each day, but mostly it's more, and it does me good. Happy T Day, Valerie

Start easy, the effects of over-doing it can be severe! I think you did fine on a first day, just keep the habit up and you´ll be back in form before you know it. Happy Walking and Happy T-Day!
Ever since I hurt my back last year, I have had trouble walking (and even standing upright properly). I used to walk five miles a day, now I'm lucky to walk to the mailbox on my front porch (grin).

I'm proud of you and I'm sure you are doing great. You can't overdo it, especially your first time out.

Terri is a wonderful person and I have followed along on her blog for ages. Sadly, she's stopped posting to her blog, but I'm so glad you found her YouTube tutorials. Her kind of art is probably right up your alley. I'm too impatient to take all the steps she uses. I'm more of a "let's get it done quickly" kind of person.

Thanks for sharing your journal, your coffee, and your walking plans with us for T this Tuesday.
Good walks ... it's the best we can do.. we are made for walking...lol!
Happy T-Day Krisha!

Good for you that you've started to walk again! I have a little pedometer which resgisters the amount of steps I do. After my walk I link into www.walking4fun.com and input my steps. I'm doing a virtual walk. I've done the Crater Trail, the Wonderland Trail and the Florida Keys trail and now I am (virtually) walking the Camino Frances. It's great fun and gives me incentive to walk every day and seeing (on my computer) all the beautiful places I have 'walked'. The chap that runs the site has done all the walks himself and has taken a photo every 100 meters so it really is as if you are walking that trail.
But I digress. Your planner looks interesting. I will have a look at Lindsay's site.
Thanks for sharing,
Have a great day,
Lisca#10
You will find even MORE tutorials and such on Terri's blog. Her last name is Kahrs and I have used a few of her freebies in the past, too.

Good morning Krisha! So glad I inspired you to walk. As you know I don't walk very fast but I do walk for at least an hour every morning. Take you camera, show us little things you spot along the way. Show us your own Neighborhood Walk posts. I'll be looking for your reports *grin*.

Thanks for the links, I'm going to look at that secret journal right now.

WooHoo! Bravo Krisha! I will be rooting for you on your journey. I love Terri's work and took her class when she did the secrets journal on 21 Secrets in 2013 or was it 2012? LOl Anyway, I often return to her videos, she is a joy to listen to. I look forward to seeing what you do. I also follow Lindsay but her chatter is too much for me sometimes, I must say. She is incredibly upbeat tho' isn't she. I would love half her energy! Lol.
Hope you enjoyed your second walk. Happy T Day, and many thanks for your comment on my post {{Hugs}} Mo xo
I've seen most of Terri's You Tube videos and they get me pumped up to make a secret journal, too. I have not tried it yet, but maybe I will be further inspired when I see yours!

Getting started walking again after a hiatus is always the hardest thing for me--it is one thing that keeps me walking. Dennis & I do about a 3 mile loop every morning. I hear you about the weight, too. I've tried a lot of different things--what worked for me was weight watchers--which I did on my own (no meetings or joining) and I lost and managed to keep it (mostly)off for a few years now.

Happy T Day!

Way to go getting walking in again Krisha!! You'll feel much better and you have such good incentives along with the journal to keep you motivated. I have been a bit lax too as I have been experiencing both a knee problem and a foot problem which is very frustrating as I love to walk. Just trying to figure out what needs to be done to correct things, but I have been walking as much as I can tolerate-better than nothing right? Happy T day!

Walking is such a great thing that I enjoy very much when we're traveling or out and about.
Getting myself to walk regularly here at home is a bit more challenging it seems.
Good for you making it a focus Krisha...it's a good thing!
How fun to be making a new journal.
Terri is wonderful about sharing her talents and passion for her beautiful colorful world.
Happy T Day

Oh, good for you girl! have fun with it...walking (and listening to upbeat music) has been a big help to me to keep off weight and keep my blood sugar under control! do make it a habit if you can. I am sad that it's the last week in August and here in Ohio it will start to get colder...I will miss the sunshine and beautiful blue skies. Good luck with the weight loss too...I'm a Weight Watcher and that works for me. Thanks for the link to the Planner video too...so cute! loved her pocket ideas, and looks like you will be able to fit some art into yours! happy T day!
A step at a time is all any of us can do. Congratulations on your new walking program! :)

Good for you! That sounds like a great plan and I went to the links and watched. Love the DIY journal. Saw some things I could do once I have my supplies out of the garage--LOL! If you made your own journal I'd love to see it. Doing the secrets journal is a good idea, too. Wow! Lots going on! :)
Happy T-Day! :)

Congrats on starting your new plan!!! I really need to start walking too not only to lose weight but it's very good for my back and cheaper than going back to therapy :) Can't wait to see your journal :)
Love that you have started to walk - I will join you as when I went to my Choose to Change meeting yesterday we had to set ourselves some activity goals! My blood sugar is staying down and today I found that I can fit comfortably in the next size down jeans! You may see on my blog that I have had a go at paint blowing with a straw - very satisfying! I will check out your links tomorrow! Happy T day! Chrisx
