NBUS #7

Happy September! Darnell has, once again, set up the NBUS (never been used schtuff) challenge.  I am running rather late since it ends on Sept. 5, but I so wanted to play with this heart die that I've had for months................and it came from Darnell!! (Pssst, Darnell......it works fantastic)

I sat down to play with it, going back and forth on how I wanted to use it.  Love this little die, even if inlaying it consists of all those tiny pieces.  The BIG plus is that it also makes a fantastic stencil!

I wanted to use the primary colors, since that is also the challenge over at the Inkspitational Blog.  I used the die cut as a stencil for the red, yellow and blue hearts..........then die cut into the card at the bottom.  Using some mirrored gold and double sided tape on the back ( this holds all those little pieces in place as I move it), I die cut the heart again.  Now comes the tricky part:  Using tweezers I pulled each piece of the gold and inlayed them into the card front.......which also had some tape on the back to hold those little pieces.

After finally breathing again, I softened the card edges with some blue ink and stamped the sentiment. The inside of the front was also lined with some white paper to cover all the tape I used.

Thanks for stopping by for a look at my card, if you have any NBUS around ( I know you do, or should I say who doesn't?) there is still a few days in which to join in the fun with and don't forget to check out all the DT work over at Inkspitational Blog.......their challenge runs for two weeks....lots of time to play along.

Happy crafting

  2. Talk about fussy. This is a beautiful card, but I'm not sure I would have all that patience you had. I was sure impressed, though and it took my breath away when you described how fussy it got in the end.

After my massive clean up (OK, it's ongoing), I have found lots of NBUS.

  5. Wow, Krisha, you made that die SING with your beautiful design! Good job with the colors and with piecing that gorgeous gold heart! I know how much work that is and how you stop breathing while you're at, but I think the terror is worth it in the end, don't you?! Thank you so much for the lovely shoutout and the dedicated post, and for playing in my NBUS Challenge #7! MWAH! Hugs, Darnell

  7. Your card is a lovely, beautifully executed work of love! The gold heart, pieced together sooooo carefully, is so striking, as are its companions! So thrilled you shared your primary colours gem in the Inkspirational gallery!
